This game...Its addictively innovative. Its greatly challenging. It requires fast reflexes and an imiginative mind. It's like God of War meets Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Well, I checked, and as it has been 5 months since this game last got a thread (and the last one didn't have a reply from me in it), I think I'm going to go ahead and take the time to say something about this game.

I love it. It's so incredibly awesome. I tried to play Ico, but it couldn't quite draw me in. However, this game did.

I love boss battles, and a game consisting entirely just of them is pretty sweet. Figuring out what I'm supposed to do was fun. (Even if I did have to resort to looking online for the first and last one.)

Great style and sweet graphics.

And while few, all it's story elements are poignant.

In other words... Go play this game. Like, right now.

Go on. I'll still be here when you get back.

...

Wasn't that awesome?

EDIT:

Nikose:
Perhaps, and this is just me saying it, maybe you went in with the wrong expectations? SotC is actually a pretty simple game. Not very involved inventory juggling and you regenerate health. But everything about it is so put together, it makes for something is really more than the sum of it's parts.

...okay, back from playing. it was okay. lacking in some areas that I can't QUITE put my finger on; it wasn't an instant-orgy like Perfect dark, but...

It's like playing Ocarina of Time on the Gamecube. Something just felt... MISSING.

One thing I'll say about this game is it's the first game in a long time that's made me just sit there in awe of the scenery and the sheer scale of the thing, the boss where it has that massive sword that you climb up when it swings it into the ground at you, so fucking awesome. This game is the only game of this generation so far that really got the feel of epic or majestic going. Last time I had that in a game was the first time going through Hyrule in OoT.

Yay, SotC! I just started playing through it again yesterday, on hard mode this time. Gonna get me some special items.

I love the whole "If you see that place, you can go there" thing the game has going on. You can still see the tower in the distance when you're far away from it and it just gets bigger when I get closer. Plus, there's just so damn much to explore. I just wish that controlling the horse wasn't so damn retarded.

What's everyone's favorite colossus? Mine's probably either 2 or 15.

The one I mentioned, I think it's 4.

My favorite battle was the very long one that glided around. You had to shoot out its gas sacs to make it come down for you to jump on it. Just awesome. I love the water serpent too.

The swordsman that greed was talking about, although I thought it was three.

The one with the beard was fun, too.

You're right just checked Wiki it is 3, the horse is 4.

I liked the wind serpent, Phalanx, the most.

Mostly because you get to fucking ride Agro alongside of the serpent's wings, fling yourself off, and grab on for dear life.

I haven't seen anything so epic since I saw LotR: Return of the King.

Awesome game!!

I’m dreaming of a SciFi-version of the setting. Like some lonely spaceman has to find its way trough a spaceship graveyard...or something.

But I have to face it: I’m to lazy to write an concept and to stupid to program it myself. :sweatdrop

I've killed six of the colosi, and I have to say it's incredibly easy. I've not felt challenged or died since the first colossus, and that's just because I had no idea on the controls yet.

Also, I've nicknamed the hero Ed. Because he's special.

Also: He runs like a retard.

Somehow, however, it's still fun. Just not quite up to all the praise its gotten.

I'll agree that the collosi are pretty awesome, and so is climbing all over them.

However, I've got some problems too.

1) Controlling Ed is a bitch. Not only does he move like an idiot, but getting him to move where you want him to when you want him to instead of off over there somewhere accounts for at LEAST half the difficulty.

2) Once you get up onto a Colossus's vulnerable spot, it's dead. You only get shook off if you suck, and/or are stupid. They seriously need to make that part more difficult. Once you're up there it's just "goddamnit, stop shaking so I can stab you again... oh hey, my stamina is down, guess I'll stand on his shoulder a bit..." over and over.

3) As beautiful as the world is, running around it gets old quick. At least for me. There's nothing to do but attempt to get your retarded horse to run the right direction (which is far harder than it should be) while you're moving to the next colossus.

4) Difficulty. Difficulty difficulty difficulty. It's far too easy.

AGAIN, I'm not saying I don't like it. I'm merely providing a view on where it's lacking, because no one ever mentions that part.

Hard difficulty is a little more challenging, but I do see where you're coming from.

The first six collosi are relatively easy in comparison to the last few, though. If you're looking for the game to become more challenging, it will as you progress.

The game was too difficult if you started out on Hard mode.

But yet, as I keep on going through Hard mode, I can't help but feel like "This is what the game was supposed to be."

For instance, the swordsman colossi, he has vulnerable spots on his head, then on his arm, then his back, then his stomach. It's really tough, and that's only early on, too.

I've played through the game, and I do think it's great. The most annoying Collosi, however, has to be both of the bull/dog ones. If you get knocked down, You will die.

Hey, uh, I've only played this game a little (because I'm an idiot), but...isn't the main character a woman?

Krylo?

Pretty sure not. He has a masculine-sounding voice, and unless he's a lesbian, the saving of the girl wouldn't make much sense.

I freaking hate those things.

But see, that's only true if you assume the girl has to be his girlfriend.

I mean, what do we know about it? All the guy ever says about her was, "She was sacrificed for she has a cursed fate. Please, I need you to bring back her soul." That's it. The word "girlfriend" never even comes up.

She could be his girlfriend, she could be his sister, she could just be a pal. Shit, even that's assuming an awful lot - how do we know he even likes her? For all we know he's bringing her back because he wants whatever curse she's under to happen. I mean we're talking about a guy who stole a magic sword, abducted a corpse, trespassed on a land forbidden to all and went off and started slaughtering more-or-less peaceful creatures without a shrug, then every time he kills one he binges on pure blackest evil, until he starts turning into some kind of fuckin' wraith growin' horns out of his head and never at any point seems to look particularly, you know, concerned about it - it seems like an awful lot to assume this joker's motivations are any kind of anything good.

You're right fifth.
Man how many goddamn ways can you interpret this game. It can be a story of true love and heroic sacrifice all the way to some evil bastard killing innocents to unleash an ancient curse.

They should teach it in year 12 English, beats the crap I was given to interpret.

It's been widely assumed that Mono is Wander's lover given the context of the story. All we know is that it's a person close to him. On that note, the kinda Freud-like ending still manages to give me the "WTF"s every time.

I mean, if you need anything else, look no further. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shadow_of_the_colossus)

I like how everyone is named, and unless you look it up, it ends up being "The guy", "The girl," "That preist," "The god, D-something..."
