I don't know why, but I'm really fond of the fact that the subject of Black Mage's whereabouts isn't even an issue.

Do it BM! Make it messsy! Finish the old lady off! She begs for death!

I don't know why, but I'm really fond of the fact that the subject of Black Mage's whereabouts isn't even an issue.

Where is he anyway, now that you mention it?

EDIT: Nice comic Brian. Kinda worried about where the light warriors are headed, but you have never let me down. Well, ok, when you did, you brought it even higher. Thanks for the comic. Forgot to say that.

Why is the old lady still alive? Normally someone only needs to say one unreasonable thing before BM takes out his knife.

Why is the old lady still alive? Normally BM kills after the first unreasonable thing someone says.

He is trying to start a business. He needs to keep people alive so they can buy shoes, have children, and the children become adults. Thus meaning more business.

I like that WM seems to be under some misapprehensions about what it means to be a Light Warrior. I wonder what her reaction will be when they reach Onrac and begin the killing, looting, and pillaging?

I'm also continuing to enjoy BM("Bundy Mage")'s cobbling antics, though I can't possibly imagine the circumstances that allowed this old and possibly senile woman to last this long without a face stabbin'.

White Mage's face = priceless.

And it's nice to see the dagger make an appearance again. It's been too long since BM whipped out his tool.

It's not like they wanted him around to begin with (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=010611).

Also: Nobody's getting stabbed, he's just getting ready to knife himself up the most comfortable pair of shoes that lady ever saw.

Or a Hadoken'n, for that matter.

Now that you mention it there hasn't been an hadoken for a while. Not since the new class changes anyway. And since BM can only use hadoken once a day, and he hasn't used it in at least several days, does that mean that he will be able to use more than one in one day. Or is stockpiling dooms-day spells the one thing that BM can't use with his new ability.

Theory:
Normally I don't do this but if BM uses a hadoken, RM copied it onto BM and he survived it, does that mean the hadoken will haved moved from being a limited dooms-day spell or a unlimited use Blue Magic spell.

Note:
BM= Black Mage AND Blue Magic...

Someone needs to shut me up...I'm rambling again.

*Ideon-class whap*There.

Seriously, though. What's up with BM? Does he think he's on FOX or something...?

And WM is so KYUUUUUTE!!!!! Now I see why BM is so smitten with her (and, apparently, no other)... I want to take her out for a nice night on the town and just stare at her...:D

She obviously doesn't suspects that the LW got their airship from the Geniune Deathtrap store instead of Akbar's "real" boats like she and BB did. (Or that Sarda's gifts of transporations all seem to come from that same brand of deathtraps.) Her previous experiences with the deathtraps have been about shoddy repairs from a prior crash.

Imagine the shock if she did learn. She even told BB that it would be stupid to imagine them buying from a store that professes to sell deathtraps. She'll learn the truth of the LW... one way or another.

He's Black Mage. He doesn't 'need' anything aside from violence. He could probably be an extortionist.

Yeah, stabbity action! Btw, he could just get rid of the woman. She's old, meanning no children from her to be future customers.

Poor WM! "I can't help but notice that you aren't laughing." Can't wait see the other LW's response to that!

The Wandering God
06-13-2006, 06:18 AM
I think he's been so patient because he loves his new life. And that still involves stabbing, but BM DID ask to become an apprentice, rather than just starting with the stabbity death.

Also, I think the reason the Deathtrap didn't crash was because BM wasn't on it. Remember the old adage "Everything exists to hurt BM?" What if that were an actual story point? With him not around, the Lite Warriors special edition will probably do BETTER without him.

Also, again, love the split comic style.

He needs her money. And business.

Considering how much trouble this old woman has been so far, I think if BM wants to get any money out of her, it'll have to be from picking her pockets after she dead. I mean, if MwC taught me anything, this woman is only browsing anyway.

As for business? You really think BM wants this old woman recommending this place to her friends?

Are you insane?

To be honest, I think BM has gotten himself caught up in his cobbler scheme. Instead of using this place as a front for his evil deeds, he's forgotten he's an evil black mage, and instead thinks he really is a shoe salesman.

Maybe when he takes off his hat it'll be the face of Al Bundy starring at us.

Think about it. It'd make sense. In their reality, that WOULD be a thing of insanity.

Its somewhat funny to think that BM's life has taken on something of the sembalance of MwC, but I think you're getting way too fixated with this. Things won't stay this way forever, and while Brian is doing something of a tribute here, BM is not Al Bundy.

Also, WM is nothing like Peg, except for the red hair. So the similarities end there.

Well, Peg DID have red hair and was constantly bugging Al about things...
Like WM with Morals....
And BM has also stated that he loves gals with red hair....
Makes me wonder how long Brian has been planning this one joke....
And I am loving every moment of it....

Also, does this make Thief and RM Bud and Kelly?

I agree with Wandering God.

Sometimes, it's not what is said but what is implied that is the funniest.

The first thing I picked up on this comic was how good everything was going for the light warriors with BM not around. I found that to be the funniest part of the comic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Orb of water fell out of the sky into their arms now and lions started laying down with lambs in front of them.

However, there is one draw back. As BM is my favorite character, I doubt this can stay funny for long. My interest in whatever the Light Warriors do without him is already waining. Suddenly, I'm more interested in the "Married with evil" side story. But even then I find myself already hoping they don't stay separated long. Too be honest, I don't know if I like the idea that BM and the rest of the Light Warriors don't really need each other. That just seems to break some of the magic for me. Besides....won't fighter at least miss BM? :'(

I think the reason the deathtrap didn't crash was because it's a deathtrap obviously what's going to happen to the LWs is FAR worse than any crash could have caused.

Remember the last time the LWs were without BM?
Lich was kicking their arses.

The universe exist to hurt BM, so it hurts him, it also gives the others relatively good luck so BM can see them and feel worse. With BM gone things are probably going to get bad for Thief,RM and WM. Fighter will be okay because the universe LOVES Fighter.

My theory is that the universe and the other LWs (especially Fighter) start treating her as a replacement BM. Then when she goes nuts and ends up in on the ground in the foetal postition contemplating omnicide from having BM's life for one day, RM is in Debora mode to replace WM and Fighter is crying and saying"I miss BM" between sobs, Thief realises they need BM so kama doesn't kick all of their arses, and they go back force BM back into the LWs, dragging him kicking and screaming from the happiest time of his life.

When you think about it, RM does like to feel pretty so i guess that sould make him Kelly but Theif and Bud have nothin in common. Except maybe that other people may percieve them as gay. You know, cause Bud never gets laid and Theif is an elf.

You forget how Bud LOVED to screw with dim witted Kelly's head....
Much like Thief and RM with the Daddy issues and crossdressing....
Also Bud loved to try and be devious and cunning...

Two things I just noticed:
One, the comic title seems to indicate stabbity death. (I did entertain the thougt that maybe BM simply was going to knife up some shoes, but the way his eyes look and the comic title simply cinch it.)

Two: Well, look who's standing next to WM? And look who's in front? Possible suble references to future events?

How did the topic of the comic go from BM and cobbiling to a cancelled tv show from the mid 90's? And worse yet, we have put way too much effort into making actual connections between the two.

SARDA IS MARCY

So we have:
BM = Al Bundy
WM = Young Peg
Fighter = Old Peg
Thief = Bud
RM = Kelly
Sarda = Marcy Darcy *Snicker*
And that would make BB = Jefferson?

This comic series has actually forced my out of my hiding.
I must now share my secret pain: I work at a shoe store. Not just any shoe store, a DISCOUNT shoe store. I must thank you Brian, for this look into our lives, and capturing the maddening insanity that is old women. It's as if I have become black mage.

Alright, ending insanity, but still a wonderful comic.

And that would make BB = Jefferson?

That would make sense since both of them were full of themselves, both had the IQ of a rotten potato but the only flaw is, BB never really had anything to do with Sarda, the alleged "Marcy". For this theory to work, WM would have to be Marcy. But this destroys the whole "8-bit vs. MwC" thing going on in this forum.

It's just a wonder to me how that old lady lasted so long AGAINST Black Mages patience... as far as I remember it snapped ages ago and I never heard anything about it getting fixed! So congrats on BM there for staying cool for so long until he couldnt help but kill that old biddy...

meanwhile for the others,,, I would laugh yes if they went and completed ff1 without questioning why WM replaced BM and without ever seeing or hearing from BM ever again, plus only fighter would even think about what happened to BM for even a second, but then would get sidetracked by shiney swords...

*Notices Fighter goeing of to drool over sword porn... yeah I just made it up... like most of Thief's forged contracts*
