"Just recently, the Japanese magazine Famitsu Capcom Vol. 2 unveiled that Dante would be older in this latest release and that he should even be supporting a more rugged look, thus indicating that the continuity likely occurs chronologically after Devil May Cry 2. Producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi indicated that he originally wanted to make DMC4 easier than previous installments, but changed his direction once he found out this wasn't what fans wanted. He later commented that he's focusing his optimisations on gameplay so that controlling Dante is simpler and accessible to all players. Director Hideaki Itsuno also noted that the game will be hard and that players, "won't be able to go back." Possibly hinting that you can't backtrack to previous missions and/or locations until completing the game once. He further stated that Devil May Cry 4 will feature more weapons, maneuvers, enemies, locations, music, and cutscenes than all the previous releases combined. It is also being billed as being the longest release yet.

The location of the story has been mentioned to be in a winter/snowy climate and that both Dante and Vergil are being specifically dressed for this occasion. It's quite possible that either both Trish and Lady could make appearances or a new female lead could be brought in to keep the 'tradition' going (or to halt the appearance of a new female to keep the allusion of the Divine Comedy). Dante's cocky personality will also remain intact. Like former installments, it is likely that DMC4 will receive a 'Mature' content rating for the ESRB, and either a 15 or an 18 by the PEGI."

So, Older, Bigger, Longer, Badder and Harder Devil May Cry ever made... can it be?

I want the new coat that he's sporting. They should make those avaliable. :D

Anyways, not having played any DMC (though it's actually the first series I plan on when I get my hands on a PS2), I am kinda excited. Very hard games get me that way (until my fifteenth death at the same spot).

I'm not a woman, so I can't judge, but did he lose that aspect of 'flaming hot' that he used to have?

I'm no expert, but that wierdass smirk he's got in link #3 is kinda fugly.

Having said thus, watching video now.

Yay! More badassness, longer game, more cutscenes, cockiness, and better graphics! What more could a gamer want?

I love the fact that the game will be longer, more involved, and more awesome than the past three games combined, but... I'll miss the sexiness. But you never know. Maybe they'll change him before they release it.

I imagine if they will do that with ther games now...

"Years later, he is older, but the fight rages on..."

Terry bogard, Solid Snake, Dante... Aging and changing their games, this can be a interesting concept

Uncanny Valley at its finest. And I thought Heavy Rain's Mary Smith looked creepy >_<.

*TOTAL OVERLOAD OF JOY!*

I like Dante's new look! :O Spiffy. <3 Only don't like his nose, and I won't be looking at that most of the time. :P

Even without the sex apeal (on either side :B), this is, of course, going to be the most awsome game ever!

I just want Nevan and Alestor to return to us. Rebellion is there, of course, and that's fine, but I want me the ligtning weapons to kill many a monster with!

Return of Vergil! <3<3<3

Nevan! I played through the whole game using only that. I had to use Beowulf in certain circumstances, though. Mostly that godawful blob thingy.

W-wait, what?

Didn't he die twice now? And where did that come from.

Read.
I didn't mean that - I missed it the first time, but I read it when I made my post. I'm just getting rather confused at how often Vergil has died, and why the hell he keeps coming back. (My mind, when I made that post, was a bit fuzzled, so I dunno where that "And" came from, or why it was finished with a period and not a question mark.)

Besides - "Dressed appropriately"? I mean, what the hell? Wasn't he fused to his armor in DMC1?

Virgil never died. He went to Hell, sure, but he never died.
Spoiler AlertAt the end of DMC3, if you unlock the cutscene by killing over 100 devils in the credits, you see he goes to fight Mundus (main bad guy in DMC1). It is up to us to assume he lost and got mind controlled. He is The Nelo Angelus (or whatever) that you fight repeatedly in DMC1. This explains why he had the other amulet. In the end of DMC1, the spell over him is broken when Mundus dies, and he probably ran away or something, to regain his strength. But he isn't dead.
Also, Krylo is awesome.

I actually really like Dante and Snake's older looks. Sure, I'll miss their younger and more youthful appearances a bit, but it's nice to know that my favorite characters actually age like the rest of us.

Wait a minute...Okay, Sparda apparently closed the door and reigned the human world 200 years ago, right? How are Dante and Vergil only 21 or so? How did their human mother live that long?

Mirai Gen

DarkCORN! - Sparda's closing of the door was years and years ago, but Vergil and Dante's conception and lifetime is recent, as well as Sparda's death.

Also; No, you fight Nelo Angelo in the third fight, and you kill him. I'm pretty sure he explodes, too.

I don't like the fact that Dante stabs and shoots Nelo Angelo and it, at least I'm assuming for DMC continuity, 'breaks the spell'. I don't think that Mundus would put a spell on Nelo Angelo that consist of "If you get your ass kicked, you loose all of your power. Mwahah. I'm evil."

I think Capcom just fucked up trying to be cool. I mean, hell. Intro to DMC1.

Nope. Dissapears in a flash of light. Never see him actually explode or die.

And remember, if he didn't die RIGHT IN FRONT OF YOU, and there's no body, then he's not dead. It's a rule now.

Besides, reviving a demon wouldn't be hard. Where they gonna go, Detroit?

Sometimes not even on that situation... Liquid Snake, Xavier, Seph... etc

Its more secure when they die making a speach about how they couldnt be killed by you ever

I just think it's extroardinarily weak that Vergil seems to have been the main theme of DMC 3, where Dante thought he was dead, and then again in DMC1, after Dante thought he was dead, and now in DMC4, after Dante thought he was dead.

It's like eventually Dante will just go, "Okay, seriously, maybe this time will be the trick."

After reading the article, I'm just going to comment on something now:

I, personally, do not like the idea of not being able to go back in the game to ord-farm. Let's face it, orb farming is the only reason a lot of us came anywhere near beating DMC3.

Yea, that may put a damper on things. Or whatever. We'll see.

I'm just hoping that DMC4 isn't going to go all DMC2.

I think its pretty clear from DMC3 that they learned their mistake from DMC2.

And you don't get to orb farm...heck. I haven't been able to beat DMC3 yet with orb farming!

Yeah... Lack of orb-farming may cause a bit of a problem. Hopefully, though, each level will be packed with breakable items that disperse large quantities of red orbs.

One can hope, can't one?

Now that I think about it, orb farming is a relatively new thing in the DMC universe. If I recall correctly, you couldn't go back and farm in DMC1...I remember this because I spent something in the neighborhood of two hours failing a secret mission just because I got orbs off it, and I needed to power up before I fought Phantom.

So, in that sense, it's more of a return to the original than a new thing...even thought I can't say I'm wild about it.

Are we absolutely sure this is what he meant? No orb farming I mean.

XD We've grown soft from two games worth of orb farming. We've lost our touch!!! (Not that we were that great at DMC1 anyway, of course, that might just be me... :shifty:)

Nope, not just you. DMC1 was one of the games I bought along with my PS2 3 years ago or so...and I still haven't beat it on Normal. :sweatdrop

Here's a tip for you guys then. Orb farming was just a little more dificult in the first game.

Orb farm the second Phantom encounter. Really, that's all you need to do. :P

I caught the "no going back thing" as sort of a revelation that will shatter our view of the DMC universe.

But thats just me.
