I hope everyone enjoys the new direction 8BT will take. The daily misadventures of working in retail shoe sales and repair will surely be more interesting than some lame old quest to save the world.

But why did he ask for a job?

Blackmage'll need to replace those windows if he means to keep the building. The distortion will impede everyone's view of his evil cobbling.
But then he'll need more blood for the new windows...
And what was Blackmage's victim doing just standing at the window? Was business that bad?

Finally, Brian. I never had the guts to tell you this before, but that quest thing was just so hackneyed. Do you know how many people I've seen doing that kind of thing over the past few years? Doubtless you were just caught up in the storm. I wonder who they all derived their inspiration from.
We're all looking forward to watching Black Mage -- now Black Cobbler -- deal with people who suspect he's a clown with a foot fetish but can do nothing about it because there's nowhere else to find precious shoes. I know I am!
Also I like the glass effect.

Could be that... He'd rather cobble than keep up the business end of things?
That aside... WHY cobbling? Does he have a foot fetish (in addition to murdering and anal)?

Yes, we can just spend the rest of the comic watching BM murder, rape, and make shoes, because with Fighter and Theif fighting, and Red Mage miming White Mage's heals, they can't possibly fail.

I envisioned the one thing that could make BM happy in this (or is it that?) world would be something...else. Like, I dunno; baking evil cakes or something. Then again, that'd be too predictable.

...he would've had more business if he sold chamberpots. Not saying what kind of business he'd get, but it'd be business none the less.
This comic alone inspired me to finally register an account after years of lurking. It's a friggin' classic.

I get the sinking feeling that Black Mage most frequent customer will be none other than King Steve, bringing his supplies of infants for his baby shoes, FRESH DAILY. A cruel task that BM would be more than happy to service him in... and those shoes do cost "oh so very much" in the monarch's own words. BM will be happy (and rich) for ages to come...
...until Thief comes back to rob BM of his soon to be profitable business.
I'm new to this forum, but I'm no stranger to the comic. I love the way the comic is going. ^_^

Truly you have gone above and beyond the call of duty good sir. If I ever, EVER, hear anyone say the comic predictable again, I will unleash the wrath that only one who is as tired of "This is what will happen next crowd" as I am.
I bow in humble respect to you and yours.
Also, he's a cobbler. It means he now has the same profession as Al Bundy. (Burkion will flip his lid when he sees this...)

Either he really likes cobbling ... or he just wants a front so people will come to him. And he can murder them.

Cobbling?
Heh, that was weird. :p
And unexpected! But I think that cobbling is more like a front and what he trully wants is to murder. But he will run out of "customers" quite soon this way. :p
Aebliss
06-08-2006, 03:07 AM
Then he'll expand to other towns; he can keep the loot from his victims and invest it into his 'business', after all. First people he'll want to kill are all the other cobblers ... That way, people will have to come see BM. -_-;

Next he'll find Onion Kid's NEW family, slice&dice them, and then give the new shoes made out of them to Onion Kid.
Let's face it, he hasn't made Onion Kid's life miserable recently. It's long overdue.

Uhm, just curious, but in addition to cobbling shoes, will BM also pave cobblestone roads? Its just that's another definition that I found up on Dictionary.com.
The public demands to know!
While BM is always looking for a good excuse to kill someone (well an excuse), I can't see him wanting to find a place to settle down. At least as BM, he seemed to always want to be on the move so he didn't encounter too much legal trouble, so when his power did occasionally fail him, he wasn't helpless.
Unless he's so powerful as his new class that he doesn't even worry about that anymore.

Is it so hard to believe that beneath BM's evil exterior, there is a master cobbler?
The only danger is if Cobblepot is part of the Cobbler's Guild, and upon seeing that he died, the Guild comes down on BM to muscle him. But BM resists, and ultimately leads the town on a glorius revolution against the evil Guild.

If BM had any wits he'd had hostile takeover'd a bakery instead. Cause, you know, you get pie from bakeries. He could have made evil pie and ate it all day long. But now it's too late. No arms, no cookies.

I know I sure am enjoying it! Might we see some of Black Cobbler's old comrades make a guest appearance with some similarly zany profession?
So, this is where the Shoes with Knifes on the point came from...stabing with the feet...Only BM could think of that.

First off, why is everyone assumin that Black Mage is just getting in cobbling to create dasterdly shoes? I think he just loves cobbling.
Also, I need to add that there needs to be shoe-related misadventures now, and godDAMNIT they had better be wacky!
EDIT: I'm also curious how the glass effect was pulled off. It looks a bit "pastelled".

Well...I'm happy to see Black Mage is enjoying himself and his freedom, but everything that happens happens to hurt Black Mage...he's going to end up having to walk back to them, or they'll see he's gone and go back...then Fighter will probably land the Air-Sub on him, thus, trapping him with the others again, making his life more miserable.

BM is killing a man within moments of his new life.
Moments, I say.
And that, my friends, is why Onion Kid will show up as an Onion Knight, and kick his butt someday. He's got really bad karma.
Of course, CobbleBM sounds like an interesting job class, even if it is an NPC class.

Well, I may not understand at all what this comic's about (and maybe it's because when we compare my group of friends to the comic, I'm Fighter) but I don't think that Black Mage is going to give up on his evil duties this easily... I just think he killed that shop owner because he's an NPC, and we all know how much Black Mage hates those NPC's. I think he's just going to kill everyone in the world one by one, and he just happened to start there... but of course I could be(and most probably am) wrong.
