Um, Brian, I don't know if I'm the only one this does this too, but when I click to the link for comic number 703, it brings me to number 702 instead...do you know what's happening? Is anybody else affected by this?
Edit: never mind, it's okay now.

Typical Brian. Sets up a very obvious conclusion, hammers you with the obviousness of the conclusion, makes you think he's losing his touch as a humorist, then ends with a completely different conclusion and makes you kick yourself for thinking he could ever lose his touch.
Also, is that a new White Mage sprite in the last panel?

Wow.....I can just read WM's mind. "What a bunch of idiots."
Though is this foreshadowing for a possably-successfl landing?

That is an. . . impressive sound Fighter makes. "TAKE-OFF" in huge three-dimensional capital letters with a big explosion and everything. I'm impressed. I hope that's what happens anwyay. :I
This is a very good chapter Brian. I do have one question though. What is WM doing in the last pannel?

I'm pretty sure Theif said takeoff, to avoid answering WM. But I do hope something happens soon. Especially now that Theif mentioned the landing gear

But it couldn't be that, 'cause she's clearly pissed.

Plus it made Thief look like a fool!

I wasn't that impressed with the beginning on the comic but after the "Blast-Off" thing, I was completely blown away. Also, I think that WM in the last panel kind of looks like she is about to do the hand-jive. Does that mean there could be a musical number soon?

Am I the only one that got an "X the Eliminator"-vibe from RM and Thief's conversation in the last few panels? Kinda low and rushed?
I really like the RM-Thief dynamic. Fighter-BM is more bombastic with their collaborations but I think I prefer the more subdued and sublime comedy of the other two.

Technically nothing happened. Theif pushed the wrong switch.
So, if everything happens to hurt Black Mage then shouldn't that switch have like, blown up the ship or something?

That is Mr. Clevinger's style. Wikipedia even says so.
This is the best comic out of the most recent few. I cracked up multiple times, just watching BM stand there. Waiting... waiting... and then nothing happens.
Is it just me, or is Red Mage in the last panel making a referance to this (http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=051001) sequence of events? Maybe it's just me.

Actually, I think you guys are forgetting the corrolary to "Everything exists to hurt BM".
The longer it takes to hurt BM, the worse it actually is.
Of course, this isn't the first time BM has been on the outside of an airship/deathtrap while everyone else has been inside...

"Take-off!"
Ah, that was a good one. Where is Fighter though? And how long will Black Mage celebrate by leaning against the landing gear? How is that celebrating?
Why do I ask more questions of myself and answer less of others...?

Personally, once I read that Thief hit the switch instead of the button, with all the talk of the landing gear, I was soooooo expecting it to somehow disconnect the landing gear and cause the ship to land square on top of BM...

I expected that the Deathtrap would take off with BM's robe caught and he was being burnt by the rockets

Personally, I think Brian might be making fun of me for the post (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showpost.php?p=400866&postcount=19) I made in the last comic thread, suggesting that BM didn't get nearly hurt enough in the torpedo tube incident. And that the sub should crush him because of SLGF (Sudden Landing Gear Failure).
The thing about this comic that I find amusing, is that RM acts like he understand the new controls Thief had installed. I mean, its a case of the blind leading the blind if you ask me, as Thief obviously didn't pay nearly enough attention to the reconstruction & RM wouldn't have a clue because he had nothing to do with it.
And why do I suspect that *ALL* the buttons, switches & knobs are now green?

If the landing gear retracts then black mage would be jamed into the landing gear hole, if it's fast.
Or there's something else, Black Mage could be left behind, and White Mage would be an Acting-light warrior, until Black Mage blows up the sea.

Because you're probably right, and I'm betting they weren't until RM's reply. Sarda is laughing malevolently as they speak.

If by "screwing" you mean:
Making amazingly funny comics based around a group of inept heros who are more interested in themselves than the world, which are released in a timely manner (usually) and at regular intervals.
And by all that stuff I mean:
making me smile and endearing me to pixels.
Either way, I'm pretty sure we all enjoy it. Especially since he is so very adept at surprising us.

The swith probably activated something either 1) totally pointless and so we will never see it or 2) some form of absolute horror that upon seeing it, BM will weep burning tears of joy and finally 3) there could be chocobos involved. Thet might use the chocobos (or the carcas anyway) as a form of floatation(sp?) device.

Wikipedia is very well moderated or whatever it is called. Ruin 8-Bit Theater page from wikipedia and you will see that it is reported from somebodys and then last valid version from wikipedia page is back.

Yeah, the chances are good you won't read a vandalized version of a popular page. But you never know, do you?
But you're missing the point. Wikipedia doesn't have a magical, undiluted fount of knowledge. They just read the comic and interpret and compile the information they can find in it. The key word being "interpret".

What's a little seawater gonna do to lungs which were once filled with taffy, and still functions by some strange means?
Whatever the button did most likely activated something that changes it from an airsub to a deathtrap. Despite it already being a deathtrap when it goes underwater.

Hey, it'll be an opportunity to try his extraordinarily painful "vomit up intestines" and "put them back" spells.
Which of course will do nothing to get rid of the seawater in them.
