(Final Fantasy III for the NES not VI/III for the SNES!) Believe me or not, this is one of those games that never made it to the USA or as a USA Remake. Or at least, I haven't heard about it.
So, what's it like? Also, does anyone have any screens for it?

It'll be released for the DS.
*Nods*
Although it's going to be in 3D, I've heard.

That's too bad I can't afford a 150 USD DS until it goes down to like 100 USD. Trust me, making about 500 USD a month on SSI sucks.
Also, Final Fantasy V and VI are coming for the GBA, NOT the DS. As located in this month's issue of Nintendo Power.

Yes but 3's being remade (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_3#Nintendo_DS_version) from scratch, with 3d graphics and actual characterisation.
5 & 6 are just being ported (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Final_Fantasy_V#Localization) as you've said.

It's pretty good, actually. The job system, while obviously not as advanced as FFV's, is a lot of fun, even though certain game situations are definitely tailored towards certain jobs. The story's nothing to write home about, but it serves its purpose well. Fun game all in all.
Also the final dungeon has no means of exit or saving. Bring lots of items and hang in there.

If there is any sort of Deity of Gaming, they will be putting in the original game (8 bit version) in there somehow. I highly doubt it, but I want to see the sprites that are the current LW in all their 8 bit glory.
If not, at least we'll finally get to see where moogles came from.

Yeah, but I wanted to play it on the JNES Emulator so I'd be able to see the original graphics may even port 'em into my comic or something. Meh, I'll probably make avatars.
Does anyone know of an english ROM for this version of FFIII for the NES?

Yeah, I played FF3j, a good game but very difficult
You get to fly many airships;
You crash the first one to clear a path.
The second is a combination Boat/Airship but can only land on water.
The third airship (Nautilus) is like the Airsub from 8-bit theater, it goes really fast! It's required for a certain point of the game, I won't say what point though.
The final airship (Invincible) is very slow though but is the only one with the capabilities to cross over mountains, plus it has onboard shops/inn and a fat chocobo to store excess items.

Dude, that thing is EVERYWHERE on the 'net. Seriously, about 90% of all decent ROM sites with a NES section has the English-hardpatched FFIII ROM (Whoever hardpatched the translation it has earned their place in Nirvana, as it's done damn well). You do not have to look hard for it by any means.

You store excess items in a fat chocobo?
Man... and i belived that RM was the sadistic one...
The fact that they mention this scares me a bit
Though most of the sprites for 8-Bit Theatre are from the original Final Fantasy game, many other sprites including the new class changed Light Warriors are thanks to the original Final Fantasy III game sprites.
Unless i'm wrong, you do it too in FF4(The one with Cecil, I think it's 4). Well you don't store it INSIDE the F-Choc '>_>

If so, I hope they don't post a link in public. >_> <_<
Just a friendly reminder. ^_^

I must be CURSED or something then. Every single one of those I've downloaded ended up only being translated about 1/3rd of the way through.:(

Yeah, it is true then. By the way anphorus... that's why I don't want to go blindly into searching for a ROM. I would love it if that GBA-looking version on Wikipedia was out though... maybe it is, or maybe it ain't. o_O

FF3j is a great game, and it's a shame it was never introduced in the US. Lots of challenging fights and dungeons, especially since there are still no in-dungeon save points. Some of the jobs have limited use, or virtually no use, but the job system is still a lot of fun.
Go for the Onion equipment in the final dungeon!

Onion Knights own every single class. They have the worst starting stat growth, but get the BEST in the end, and if you add Onion Equipment... they are the single most powerful force upon Terra. They are unto GODS!

Offtopic: That bodes horribly for BM.
Ontopic: Anyone disappointed the Black Mage class doesn't have the shadowed face? I'm hoping one of the characters they haven't shown as a black mage will have it.

FFT got me used to exposed faces. I like both ways, honestly.
To be honest, I prefer the darkened faces. They've had it from FF1 all the way to FF9 (With the notable exceptions). it keeps it as a classic. Anyone wonder how they will use the Stylus?

Probably just maps and menus like they usually do in conventional games Big Mac, though I'll wager there will be touchscreen maybe even microphone centric minigames.
