I have no idea how well this one works, really, but I had a very fun time making it.

And so Fighter gets proved right by a loophole and BM escapes WM's Devine Wrath.....
Did BM get shot out of the torpedo cannon or did he just fall through?

Meh. One of the weaker ones, although BM falling through the floor/wall onto his face is always fun.

Wasn't Oregano the dj? :D

You know what's the best of all this?

TORPEDOS!! Like, for air battle acshonu!!!

Of course, if there is ever an air battle Fighter will probably use his comrades as ammunition for the torpedos.

There's something about WM being oddly concerned about her weight that's funny... This is a very WM-y comic - haven't seen one in a while.

Which brings up a question. Since they're all SD characters, and their heads are roughly twice the size of their bodies, what _is_ an appropriate weight? 60 lbs? 90 lbs? 190 lbs? Kilos?

But beyond this, there is something we must do, as forum-posters. We must assign a meaning to "SHOOMP!"... I'll get that thread started, actually.

Not that I'm not enjoying these comics, but is there a point to all of this? Back in the day, WM would have shown BM the hammer at the first sign of rudeness, whereas this is getting pretty drawn-out. I hope Brian's building up to something more than the usual "BM hits on WM and gets violently maimed" deal, and that they don't just take off for their next adventure.

I liked this one, it had classic WM BM humor in it, not to mention Fighter got to be Fighter, hehe.

I like how Brian is going out of his way to make sure the obvious thing doesn't happen (WM magicing BM, giving him new blue magic stuffs).

So "shoomp" is the sound of BM sliding out the torpedo hatch? I can dig it.
Heh heh, WM sounds like one of those crazy ladies, you know the type I mean, miss Farmer in Donnie Darko is their leader. "Is it slang?"

Hey, that's my quote in a cute cat's sig. I'm so proud.

I could be an ass and point out the question mark placed after What's in panel 4, but I won't, because I'm above that sort of thing.

...

Oops.

Anyway, I have a question.

What's the deal with the comic title, "Salt n' Peppa. And Oregano." I'm fully aware that's the name of the band, but I don't get how that relates to anything in the comic.

Unless my memory isn't lying when it's saying there was a song with them singing the word "Shoomp".

Oh dear, I'm worried now. Exposure to that kind of music would surely break the already fragile sanity of Mr. Clevinger.

Sorry, TWG I think it's SHOOP (http://www.sluggy.com/daily.php?date=020212).

And yeah I hope this is leading up to something good, heh maybe they'll take off without BM.

Edit: Yeah it's SHOOP (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_n_Pepa).

They had a song called "Shoop" which sounds very much like "Shoomp" and I knew drawing a line between those points would aggravate Lydia because it's so stupid. And so I did it.

Weelllll.... I've been known to guess Brian's humour (have I ever posted something in third person to you so close to a post of yours, Brian..? I don't remember... Anyways; on with the rudeness! :gonk: ), and part of it, yes, just has to be the fact that BM would learn some magic from it.
But what would be funnier? WM repeatedly banging BM on the head with a hammer, then healing him, and repeating it 7-6 more times until she leaves; or dragging it out, pulling countless hilarious and naive jokes from WM, and at the very end, at the most unnexpected moment, have him bashed with the hammer? Honestly. Let me give you perfect examples of why we don't need the old style of WM.

But art doesn't moan in agony.
Sure it does. It's, uh, performance art.
So you are a clown, then.

It seems you've made some progress since we last spoke.
I can see that your art is your driving passion.
Even your wardrobe is a statement about the repulsiveness of violence through image.
No, this is just what I wear now.
Oh, I'm sorry to hear that.

Fighter, trust me on this. I am going to turn around now and show you that he's in that room--SLAM!-- Darnit!

"Shoomp"?
What's? That supposed to mean?
Is it a code word? A dark incarnation?
Is it slang?
Are you making fun of my weight, which is both healthy and appropriate for my height?

I close my case.

Also, he'd only get the Repeatedly Bash With Mallet magic once, so why add in more needless violence? That's not what the comic's about.

On other points... so now we find out why WM can hurt BM so easily. Not because he's weak, but because she's so strong. Yes, today, we have found out WM is a self-conscious body builder.

You did, just then. She doesn't have all that many expressions to work with...

As for myself, I'm somewhat annoyed. If BM somehow managed to end up in the torpedo launcher, why isn't he being hurtled away from the Dethtrap 3:The Airsub? I mean, I know a torpedo works somewhat on its own power, but the tube is supposed to at least get it out of the ship.

If everything that happens, happens to hurt BM, why did he survive this encounter without nearly enough pain? At very least, the landing gear should suddenly fail.

I was thinking about the torpedo thing. Doesn't the difference in pressure in the tube and in the water suck it out?

LAWLZ. White Mage thinks she's a fattie.

Maybe I'm just weird, but I just find

I think BM's being pretty smart in this one. He descides, right then and there, not to ask questions, and just let sleeping dogs lie. Before they bite him. In bad places. Like his face.

God I love Fighter.

Thief....what the sam hill happened to him? He's become even MORE of a total piece of jackoffery since the Class Change, and seems to have developed a new and sick interest in keeping secrets from people.

Crazy stuff. And I'm kinda glad WM's hammering was denied to us. Keeps things fresh.

Now watch the sky fall on BM's head. XD

Very simple comic, yet very funny at the same time. As previously stated, I hope that this leads to something more than the simple punch line followed by repeated hammerings. But then, our BM has grown up since puberty and has become a tad bit more social.

Hooray for torpedo tubes that serve as escape route, for Fighter being correct, and for Thief's work in upgrading the Airsub into only what will probably be a semi-deathtrap!

Now I'll bet they take off with out Black Mage or he ends up wedged and/or sticks to some random part of the airsub...then it goes underwater....then...run Black Mage, RUN! Get in the damn thing!

You've never had to work with crooked contractors have you? They're the devil I tells ya. Last week they left carpeting glue spilled on the hard wood floor and had someone stand in front of it during inspection, then skipped town. This time the hardwood floor contractors misplaced floors by a foot and 7 inches, calling it a "planning failure" on our part, and weasel in more hours to amend the situation. I wouldn't doubt that similar problems will happen to the airsub, to a greater degree. Contractors + deathtrap = double deathtrap. At least now it can actually move :thief: "more or less".

I have concluded the major difference between Red Mage and Thief. Red Mage will pretend to know how to do something and then do it. Thief, however, will fully admit to being clueless, and then do it anyway.

There's something about WM being oddly concerned about her weight that's funny...She is fond of Italian food. That could have something to do with it.

Also, for everything happening to hurt Black Mage, he sure seems to have gotten off easy this time. The universe will probably make up for it next comic.

I actually laughed at this comic. That hasn't happened in a while, but this one did it. There was so much funny! WM trying to figure out "Shoomp", Fighter being right, BM escaping pain by sliding out of a (probably faulty) torpedo shaft, Thief and RM's various antics, all gems.

And, I would like to present this: Is it just me, or has RM has been hanging around Thief alot lately, almost as if their... becomeing friends! *gasp* And the way Thief asked RM to go get supplies, fully expecting him to min/max them for best results? I don't know what to think...

And really, it seems to me that the Lightbulb Warriors are trying to be more organized. I mean, they went to a town for the sole purpose of stocking up and getting ready for their next quest! That's new!

But they stay true to their roots...many of the townspeople have died as a result of their visit. And there is still time for the airsub to explode or test its weapons or something to completely destroy the entire region before they move on. This comic had a strong ending, with Fighter, Blackmage, and then Thief having great lines. "Who knows? Not me, I'm not a contractor."

... how would you launch a torpedo from a storage closet? and wouldn't the storage closet drown with water if they went under water, since BM so easily fell down the shaft?

Of course it would drown, but the deathtrap would be safe. Just close the Storage Door.

They may becoming more of a team. But they are a team of psychopathic murderers, con elves, clueless swordsmen and a twink. But they have yet to totally obliterate the town from the map so they may be improving in their anti social behaviour.

I'm so glad for WM's return. I think that's a new sprite in the first panel, showing her not-so-divine side.
Storage = torpedo? It would be interesting to fire random supplies at enemies. Especially if BM or Fighter decides to go get some.

If I understand this comic correctly, Black Mage is moving to stab either White Mage or Fighter to death, then someone (Thief or Fighter) in the control room initiates the torpedo launch. The storage room is pressurized; Black Mage is flushed off the toilet like a giant blue turd. The reason the storage room is flushed like this is because Thief is a master of cutting corners. The joke is that everytime the torpedo bay activates, the entire storage bay is ejected.

By the way, does anyone get the impression that BM and WM are somehow meant for each other? They would be a great match if it weren't for the fact that BM is a completely evil Chaos devotee and WM is a whacked-in-the-head humanitarian girl scout. It would also be really amusing to see a sprite "No Exit (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_Exit)" comic series where WM is sent to hell by bureaucratic error with BM and either Fighter or Black Belt.

I think the storage closet acted something like an ammo clip. You're supposed to pile up the torpedoes in there, and one by one, they drop into the torpedo launching tube.

1. But he is a giant blue turd -- how else do you explain the smell? And don't give me that "spell components" excuse, 'cause we've never actually seen 'em(they have, however, been mentioned).
2. Made for each other? Not in my mind, but that's just me...

Fantastic comic, as usual. This one made me laugh quite a bit, although BM's hands in the eleventh panel rather irritate me.

I don't know about devastating the planet, but if it was launched from a higher altitude, something sure would be devastated.

In any case, this sure was a lucky break for BM. Accidentally sliding out or getting ejected out of the torpedo tube and getting a facefull of turf sure beats getting caught by an angry ecclesiast and being a demonstration model for one of the 42 ways to break a neck.

In the immortal words of Monty Python's rendition of King Arthur...
Run away!
Oh, and thank you, Thief. Your willingness to cut corners with crooked contractors saved Black Mage a bad beating at the hands of a hard-hitting healer. Nice to actually see BM escape (however temporarily) a dose of "universe hurts BM" action.
Of course it would drown, but the deathtrap would be safe. Just close the Storage Door.
Interesting choice of words, there. Suffice it to say that the Light(bulb) Warriors' chances of being "safe" (a relative term for them if I've ever heard one) depends entirely on how many corners the contractor decided to cut making that storage-room door.

You know, I'm surprised no one thought that thinking that it was just a mantainice tube, BM saw that it was a way out, and said what he said because dropping about ten feet facefirst into the ground was far better then having his testacles beaten into his body by a very large hammer.
