Do you think there will/should there be Moogles in 8BT? There are chocobos, so why not moogles? What are your thoughts?

I think that moogles would be an excellent addition to the 8-bit crowd but the only problem is that there were no moogles in the first Final Fantasy (and I hope you all know that that is the game this comic is based off of.) Yeah there are chocobos but that is because there were chocobos in the first game. Or was that in the second game...I havn't played them in a while. I will get back to you with this information.

There were no chocobos in the first one. As for moogles, we don't know.

there were no chocobos until the third game, I think.
There may have been moogles prior to FFV, but I don't remember.

Moogles, kupo!
Have BM commit Moogle genocide, kupo!
And I'm quite sure there were no chobos in the first game, kupo!

Moogles first premiered in the same game that houses the sprites that compromise the class change. Yup, FF3j.
The one that hasn't been released at all (commercially) in the US. Until this fall when it comes for the DS, that is.
So, technically, they could fit right in.
As to whether they will be used or not... Who knows?

Chocobo sprites first appeared in Final Fantasy IIj.
I haven't seen Moogles yet in Final Fantasy IIIj.
I think Moogles would be excellent to place into the 8BT storyline, as they are such small and lovable creatures that can be easily disposed of despite their ability to use magic.

Ahem. Having played FF2j from start to finish, I can tell you for certain that they're are no Moogles in the 8-bit version of FF2j. Can't say anything about the revision, but in FF2j NES there were no Moogles.
There were however Beavers which looked & acted suspiciously like Moogles.
And yes, there were Moogles in FF3j.
And yes, I have created a Moogle sprite for Brian's use, just in case.

Did I mention I'm a moogle when I'm not a tiger? I love moogles!!! and I rather love those sprites, I've loved them since I saw them. Since you did the sprites, Brian should make at least one moogle! >.<

I seriously doubt Brian will put a moogle in just because you posted a sprite sheet, Brian has never really worked that way. He may eventually though.

I said just in case, didn't I? There's a number of sprites I've made for Brian that he hasn't used. Heck, I originally made the Chocobo sprites long before the upgrades, and it took me at a bit of a loss when he finally got around to using them.
And the overland sprites aren't mine, but the side-view poses are.

Since they're so cuddly and all, they'd end up getting brutally slaughtered by Black Mage, probably while White Mage is watching and maybe just after they accepted a certain little boy without a family as one of themselves.

I like it!
If there were to be moogles in 8BT, where on the map would they fit? There aren't many Moogle-friendly places in FFI, except perhaps a random forest in the middle of nowhere whose sole purpose would be to house them.
Maybe the Airship will crash yet again, the Moogles will cheerfully help the LWs repair it, and in return, Black Mage will off a few? I dunno.

That sounds right actually! In the end the forest might be completely wiped off the face of the map by Hadoken, (which happens often....) and the moogles would be considered a dead race. Then the airship would break again of course.

Moogles would be great, but it might be hard to fit them in to the FF1 storyline, but if they could get in there it would be awesome.

Well, it worked for the Chocobo in FF2 (I refuse to put that stupid "j" in front of it. Both FF2 and FF4 have been released in North America at this point with their actual names. So there :shifty:). I don't see why it couldn't work for some Moogles in 8BT...

That's what I'd think, too. After all, I wrote about this in an 8-bit fanfic. In the 8-bit/FF fanstories thread, I have a three part series called, "The semi-new adventures of the Light Warriors." (I'd post a link to it, but I don't know how to do that.) One of the subplots is the LWs go into a forest, which is a Moogle habitat, BlackMage, being evil like he is, can't stand how cute the Moogles are, goes crazy, and starts killing them. I won't say anymore, for that'd be spoiling. My point is yes, I can see Moogles appearing in the actual series.

Perhaps the moogles would be used to fuel the new, repaired airship. They could give BM a whip and call him galley-master. Fighter would beat the drum, but he'd screw up allt he time and it would end with BM using the moogles as an excuse to beat fighter cuz he's, you know, stupid.

I refuse to put that stupid "j" in front of it.
I love you.
For pete's sake. There is NO FF3-US. Numbers do not go 1, Mystic Quest, 4, 3, 7, etc(?). Trust american marketeers to go 'Oh noes! No one will buy it if they think they missed out! Let's completely fuck up the numbering system! numbering is arbitrary! Pigs can fly! They'll figure it out, because the tenth letter of the alphabet is J!'
Seriously...that's what marketeers do.
Accept your failings, America! You were not priveledged enough to receive the glory that is held within Final Fantasies 2, 3, and 5. Now quit your bitching and drop the J.
Oh, and If moogles happen in 8BT, I anticipate cheesey "OMG WHAT ARE THESE?!@" "THEY SEEM TO BE FLUFFY!" "HARR HARR DESTROY" "OH NOES, THEY MIGHT BE HELPERS~" *BAM* "AH WELLS, NO LEARNINATION FOR WE!"
And then we'll never see them again.
In fact, I challenge brian to make a comic using that very script, with moogles in it, just because he has nothing better to do than to pander to the wishes of his adolescent fanbase.

Well, I'm sorry for trying to make sure there are no misunderstandings. I certainly wouldn't want to make things clear, as I've seen several people wonder where the class change sprites came from. Just as I'm sure that if I just said FF3, then someone would get confused. Marketeers didn't have anything to do with the FF3j thing. That was something started hear in America when we figured out that they didn't port all the FF's over, and as a way to clear up confusion. Admittedly, those days are mostly past. MOSTLY past. Besides, old habits die hard.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that you are talking about the forumites there. And I'm going to actually agree with you if that's the case. I personally dislike it when people try and overly predict what will happen next. Especially since I see a lot of "Well, this happened before, so I think it will also happen here." Even though I've stated numerous times that Brian is very good at coming up with things that surprise everyone.

And if we started using FF2 & FF3 people might confuse the titles with the Snes titles. At least in the case of FF2, I'm not so sure about FF3.
See because, as stupid as it is that we here in the states didn't get FF2j & FF3j, we also got our FF games mislabled. I forget what game FF2 for the Snes actually is, but it isn't FF2.
So accept the little j, and learn to love it!

The US FF2 was FF4.
But he's right you know. There have been remakes for GBA and PSX. And it is accepted I think by everyone that when saying FF2 they mean FF2 and not FF4.

I, personally, like the j. I'll never use it, but, all this isn't relevent to the topic now, is it?
On topic, I really don't think having Moogles in the comic would be all that good. The thing is, they weren't in FF1. Yes, I know that Chocobos weren't in it either, but they were used as a convient plot device/means to get the inbred chocobo joke in. I really can't see how Moogles could be used this way, unless Brian did have the Lightbulb Warriors crash in some unknown forest, which is, in my opinion, to far to go for a Moogle cameo.
And that's my 2¥. Or something.

Yeah, that was the point I was trying to make in my other post: The actual FF2 (well, a remake of it, but the point is the same) has been released outside of Japan at this point. And it's called by the name "Final Fantasy 2". There's not much point in saying "FF2j" anymore. I don't really care about if people say "FF3j", since that still hasn't come out over here yet (though it will soon, on the DS). But whatever. Didn't mean to start an argument or anything.

Final Fantasy II can be played on Dawn of Souls.
I know. I've completed both games. And have the wonderful sound test.
Hold on, I thought we were talking about Moogles...
Moogles deliver mail in Crystal Chronicles!

Actually, I don't see BM killing the moogles, I see RM harvesting them for some sort of insane scheme that makes no sense, yet it works, and then fails miserably, bringing the Light Warriors' status quo even worse than it was before
