Dont trust news that come from just ONE source people...
Either way, sony makes more profitys on games then with consoles... even if they want to stop second hand games to circle around or even piracy, they arent stupid enough to risk MORE at this point

Well, although I don't think it'll happen, there WERE rumors about this about 3 months ago. From multiple sources. I suppose this site was just bringing them back, while Sony took the chance to deny it. But then, only Sony of Europe denied it so....you never know what Crazy Ken will decide to do in the end.
Ken: "I'm too lazy to go to a store and buy games." THIS JUST IN! ALL PS3 GAMES NOW HAVE TO BE DOWNLOADED!
ALL PS3 GAMES NOW HAVE TO BE DOWNLOADED!
Well, he would be just ordering what a lot of people already do >_>

Here's the thing of this is, I'm pretty sure - and if we have anyone who knows better then by all means correct me - but even if Sony adopted a licensing model, you still have the right of resale. I mean this is how just about all computer software works, word processors, photo editors, games, whatever, all you actually 'own' is a license to use the software in ways defined by the vendor. But I can still go and sell my copy of World of Warcraft or whatever, it just means that what I'm selling is my license to use that product.
I'm not saying Sony wouldn't love to have some way of keeping people from reselling, but if they were going to go that route it would just be on the order of throwing up technological roadblocks to playing a given game on multiple PS3s, or something of that nature.

My friend attempted to explain that Sony's PS3 was implimenting a system of, well, when you buy the game, and use it in your PS3, it cannot be used in any other PS3.
I easily explained that that was bullshit, since the sheer idea of Sony trying to put a DVD burner into their already bells-and-whistles platform simply to prevent resale or 'loaning' was utterly ridiculous.
But, yeah, on topic.
What has me concerned is that this sounds like a Sony backpedal.
"We're going to be implimenting a system to prevent loaning of PS3 games and resale for lower prices."
"...What!?"
"...By that we mean, that we love resalers!"
I'm not sure what happened, but I think the conversation went something like that.

The only "Way" i see for anything similar to be done would be on playing online games on the PS3... something like, every copy of the game having a "Serial number" that the PS3 would read and "assimilate" to the players account when he plays it for the first time online...
Thus... blocking people who would like to use that copy of the game to play with their own accounts...
that... i can see as "possible"... but still is kinda stupid...

Phantasy Star Online I+II forthe GameCube actually did this. All I can tell you is 1) It made perchasers of thegame unhappy 2) It made people who sell used games unhappy and 3) Led to a way to play burned DVD disks on the GameCube.
So LOL to Sony if they try to do it!

Damn! i didnt know this... Phantasy Star Online actually was a lot of Fun compared to the many other MMORPG's around... but that was a dumb move for sega and nintendo...
If what sony wants to do is make more people buy their games then they should be aiming on making Bluray cheaper to produce quick... on wikipedia it says that the Bluray can resist "wire-wool scrubbing" without scratches... so a CD that can survive for so long shouldnt give any players a reason to buy another copy unless they break it or lose it...

I'm to believe that Sony's agenda is money above all else. Stamping out the second hand market is in line with what Sony's done in the past as well as what they've done with music which got them in trouble.

and microsfot and nintendo are up for charity to gamers?...
they are all about money and profits... they just choose different ways to take it

They're about profits. Sony has been on a mission to stamp out the second party markets. That was evident with a lot of different steps such as how they handled Bleem and how Sony BMG tried to hack into your computer with DRM software.

Can you elaborate on how Sony tried to hack into peoples computers, I was not aware of this.

You guys do realise that Buying used games/systems are one of the causes that games are so highly priced.
This is because buying used systems means the maker of the system gets no money, but only the retal store.

While this may be true, there is another line of thinking. It's not only the secondhand selling market that would be affected. If I wanted to loan a friend a game, I wouldn't be able to. Now, as it is, if I did loan a friend a game, they may decide that they like it enough to go out and actually buy a copy, thereby giving the video game company more revenue.

But 90% of the revenue they actually pay attention to is defaulted in the district of "The first few months." So to them, they would be defeating themselves.
