View Full Version : My try at a new webcomic

Well, I was thinking about it and so I came up with a (what I think to be) possibly decent webcomic series, the name would be "Nintendo Heros" for a simple reason, it would be based off my favorite super nintendo characters.

Well, if you're interested in taking a look at a preveiw

preveiw :: -=look at posts below or click on sig link=-

Feed back would be great, just not sure if I should invest the time in actually making a series or not,

thanks.

edit: just so you don't get the wrong impression, the better comics are down below :)

#1. Don't use jepgs. Use .gif or .png. If you use gifs, you should index them. Look in the Mode menu.

#2. It's not too big of a problem in this particular comic, since it's all so blurry anyway, but sprites should be resized in intervals of 100% (like 200% or 300%, not 150%). Since you seem to be using Photoshop, you should look around the resize menu and see if you can do something about the interpolation, or else your resized sprites will still be blurry. I don't use Photoshop, so you'd need to get some one else to help you with resizing.

#3. Proof read your comic. Unless, of course, Kirby saying "it not my fault," and then "learn how to talk," was ment to be a joke.

#4. Originality is important. I know of a certain, other web-based sprite comic (like there's any other kind) that starts with two characters who hate each other looking for a place in the woods and one of them asking the other one what they're doing. It has a pretty popular forum, too, if I recall correctly.

Beyond that, the joke is pretty decent. It's not too funny, but it shows potential. Really, you'd need to make a few more before I could tell you if the series is worth pursuing.

Oh, and you could have saved yourself from reading this post if you'd looked at almost any of the other "Look'it mah comic" threads in this section of the NPF. Your mistakes are of the most common variety. Seriously, I could have copy and pasted a post from one of those threads instead of bothering to type this.

But I did type this, 'cause I care.

Well, I made this some time ago, before I knew how to properly resize sprites.

And if I started making a series, this would not be the first episode, because I did realize that it was a bit similer to another webcomic, thus I entitled this a preveiw, and I know jpg's suck ><, it just was easier to upload, but if I did make a series out of it I would probably stick to gifs.

Yes, Kirby's bad english was ment to be a joke, obviously it wasn't a good one though, but, none-the-less, thanks for the feed back :)

edit: here would be the real episode 1, the one I had shown before wouldn't show up untill later.

Um... this one is very different. I honestly don't know what to say about this one other than it is much, much better. Sorry for criticizing your first comic so harshly. I figured it was the best you could do, but I was wrong.

Dead wrong.

Don't worry about being to harsh, negitive feedback is just as good as positive feedback.

Anyways, if your interested, I made episodes 2-7, I won't be able to make any more for a little bit because my parents didn't like the way I got Adobe Photoshop, heh :sweatdrop .

So, here they are:

Wow, I'm glad you kept making these. Most of them are great. I liked the end of episode four especially.

As for your Photoshop problems, make your parents happy and use open source programs. The gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) is a nifty photoshop replacement that's completely free and legal!

Those are classic, especially the adoption punchline. :D

I made some more, would of had them done sooner but I had some RL things to take care of, I'm planning on making up to 30, when I hit that mark and like the feel of how things are going, I might make a site for it, anyways, click here (www.geocities.com/lennygameman/list.htm) to see them.

And I know the page looks sloppy, but I figure it's better then putting a billion links on this post, anyways, negitive/postive feedback welcomed. Thanks :)

Pretty good comic you got there. The graphics are good and not blurry, the jokes are pretty funny, AND this is just the beggining of the series! This is starting off way better than my comic did. Mine sucked at first but is good now. The only problem I can possibly see with your comic is there doesn't seem to be much of a plot yet.

Thankyou. I've been out on a job search for awhile so my time to create anymore comics was cut short. But I've found a job now, which means two things. I can start making more comics, and I might be able to start paying for hosting for a decent site, thank god HTML is so easy :p

edit: Just wanted to add some more, I pressed the submit button without thinking. Anyways, I do have a plot in mind, I'm just going though the introduction phases for my cast of characters, once that is done the plot will reveal itself. I'm trying to throw in some odd strips to kind of give a hint on the coming plot, but we'll just see. Like I said before, when I make about 30 or so I'll see how I feel about becoming really devoted to this possible series.

Very very nice. XD

I don't know if you'll take this as a compliment or not, but they remind me of Brian's earlier comics.

Really? I was trying to be as original as I could, but I guess I still have some work to do, thanks for taking the time to read them though :)

I think the earlier ones were a little funnier but there's a plot now too. Keep up the good work.

I love episode 3. XD

You should get hosting on Comicgenesis if you don't feel like paying. Free hosting, unlimited space, automated tools, plus the advantage of a built-in community and advertising.

Besides, you could always buy a domain and redirect all traffic to your CG site. :p That's what I'm about to, or am thinking of doing in the future.

I'm not sure, but doesn't comicgenesis not allow sprite comics with non-original sprites?

Anyway, great job Leon_88. This is a very promising sprite comic.

Oh that's right, I forgot about that particular stipulation of theirs...
