Thief used gil throw?Given how much money he has, I assume his gil throw would be able to kill anything, Sarda included.I was discussing this with a friend a while ago.Given how skilled Thief is in the art of stealing ( based on how he stole something that didn't exist once if I'm not wrong ), would he be able to steal the illusion he saw in castle of ordeals and thus, becoming even richer, making gil throw so powerful that it'd pretty much kill the universe?

While I suppose this may be theoretically possible...we must not forget that Thief is a greedy bastard who would sooner kill everyone not native to elf-land than give up even one cent of his money.

Actually, he enjoys stealing for the sake of stealing. I'm sure he'd be willing to do a few Gil Tosses if it meant looting the gil back from the enemy corpses after he was done.

Exactly. He'd kill something with gill toss and then retrieve said gil from the corpse of the slain enemy.Wait, he wouldn't retrieve the gil. He'd steal the gil.I wonder if Thief can steal BM's hadouken...

True. Thief can steal anything. Even if it's non-materialistic(like Lich's soul) or nailed down(like he said in Episode 212). But I'm pretty sure Thief would be upset if he had to go through the bleeding corpses and would most likely trick Fighter into signing a contract saying Black Mage has to go through the bodies and retrieve the gold.

Or he can just use illusion on self to make himself think there aren't any corpses, therefore the gil is just laying in the ground.

But what if the gold hit the front of the enemy then it got backstabbed by something and it fell over on it's face? Thief wouldn't be able to see and get through to the holes in the corpse that the gold made. Of course one possibility that I didn't account for in my previous post is if the gold just hits the enemy real hard and bounces off the enemy. But I always imagined that it went in the monsters because in all the Final Fantasy games I played the gold throwing skill always lost you gold that you never got back. I don't count the victory gold as getting it back either.

Because in the final fantasies that had gil throw, the thrown gil should be lost since it'd be the most cheating thing ever.In FF1, there was no gil throw, therefore, we don't know if Thief would be able to steal the gil back from the corpses of his enemies.

There is no goddamn way Theif would give up any of his money.

Thief puts his money before the welfare of his non-loyal, yet useful, party. In the event that he lets gil loose from his hand, he would immediately blame non-elves, go steal more, and laugh. Anywho, looking at the games, most of the gil would miss small targets.
Also, he said that he could steal anything that wasn't nailed down or something else while contemplating Lich's soul.
So, he can't steal nailed down things, from what I know. But then, him saying he can't came before him saying he can and already did. Stupid funny > continuity rule! Makes speculating hard...

Now you're just thinking too hard. Remember, Brian is known for his deus ex machina. He'd always give Thief a way to get his gold back, even if it were lost in an enemy's digestive tract.
By the way, in your user info you should set your location as "at my post". :p

More than one thing that didn't exist.
Also, to whoever said that there was a plothole with the bolted down thing with Lich and the nailed down thing at Prontera, there ain't.
