Gamespot story (http://www.gamespot.com/news/6148928.html)

Pretty much got all the details across in the title.

But frankly, I can't wait. I really thought it was going to be May 15 (new Mario game) and now that is has been 'pushed back', I've decided to import. I've always wanted to import something anyway, and the Lite looks pretty slick.

Does anyone else think that the importer's are hurting or helping Nintendo?

Hurting: Decrease amount available in Japan

Helping: Showing off the new hardware before it actually is available, generating interest in the new hardware

Well, I don't know which, but I do know I've thought about it for a while, and have the extra cash to cover the import cost, so I've decided to import. Now it's just a matter of choosing color.

First off, I know double posting is bad, but I feel this is a significant enough update to warrant a whole new post. If a mod disagrees, I will be more than happy to edit/delete however.

Just got my DS Lite in about half an hour ago.

One word: Wow!

This thing has one of the sharpest screens I've ever seen. My new copy of Mario Kart DS looks great in it.

And the rumors of the brightness are true. Not only that, but you can see it from any angle.

I'm very happy with my purchase.

I'd also like to say I'll answer any questions in this thread about the DS Lite.

So the DS Lite is going to sell for the same price as a normal DS eh?

Here's something that's been confusing me for a while now. I've heard from some people that the Lite doesn't have a GBA port, but i've heard from others that it does. GBA Port or no?

Yes it def does. But the GBA (and only GBA games btw) cartridge sticks out a very little bit.

Ah, so it's just not flush anymore.

How about battery life? Any difference there?

Don't know yet. But I've heard that it depends on the brightness setting. At the brightest it is said to last as long as the old DS. It has 4 settings, and the lower the brightness, the longer it lasts.

And it charges in just 3 hours.

I'm not going to get a DS until I've got a goddamn-good reason. I already am a broke-ass college student eagerly waiting for the Wii.

But, this news makes me happy.

only $129? I know what I'm saving up for, then.
