Okay, so BM can do blue magic. On the other hand, he is defensively weak, and therefore may have trouble surviving attacks from stronger creatures. However, if he does die, and is sent back to hell, would Lich return him to his body to prevent a revolt or another takeover of some kind? And would he then keep the attack he gained from the monster who killed him?

If so, he would be able to continue an endless cycle and become extremely powerful, right?

I thought that once you learn a spell with blue magic you become immune to it. So why could he cast the gut-spewing spell on himself?

"No. That's stupid. You are immune to nothing."

Well, he survived two attacks. Three if you count the one he cast against himself.

That's only because he didn't try to eat. Or breathe.

And Magus did say that you had to survive the attack to learn it. QED.

Wait, doesnt this mean that any spell BM learns is useless?

Because he learnt the "gut" spell and, cast it and it hurt him wouldent this mean that all of the spells that he learns, will just be cast on himself?(when BM casts them)

No, the only Blue Magic spell (unless he learned the healing of Sarda's spell) is the "Make Black Mage puke his guts up" spell. Sarda custom made this spell to only affect Black Mage. Note that BM "Inna nertz!"'d that weird monster from the continent after he learned that Blue Magic spell.

obviously you missed the entire 'blue magic' arc where he learns his first blue magic spell. goblin punch worked out quite well.

I didn't miss it I just forgot!

Sarda's spell is unique. Others have the normal "Target creature/object/whatever" in their discription. Sarda's is purely "Black Mage", no other.

Goblin Punch will work on anyone he uses it on. Case in point, one probably dead green monster thing.

Uh, didn't every spell targeted at Sarda end up hitting the one who casted it?

I don't think anyone's ever actually gotten as far as casting a spell at Sarda, before.

BM tried, didn't he?

Now that I think about it, it doesn't seem as if Blue Magic will be all that useful to BM. For starters, how many monsters have the Light Warriors managed to encounter in the previous 700 comics? Off the top of my head, I can name the following:

The Giant
The Immediately-Outside-of-Corneria Creatures
The Werewolves
The Other Giant
Baphomet
The Orc Zombie
The Cave Guardian Platypus
Kraken, Dinosaur, and Giant Mongoose
The One-Eyed Abomination
Lich
Kary, and
the Littlest Ugly Goblin

Out of all of those creatures, the only ones who managed to harm BM before his class change were the OEA and Lich. Meaning that, if BM had had Blue Magic all along, by now he would have gained the ability to:

Transport his foes to an alternate dimension of endless void
Throw his foes into an armoire, breaking their spine

As we've all seen, the endless void plan is no good if you absorb someone of RM's mental capacity, and the price of a good armoire is outrageous nowadays. Not the most useful of abilities, as far as I'm concerned.

EDIT: Okay then, yes, BM did manage to get pummeled by that other giant in this comic: http://www.nuklearpower.com/daily.php?date=020515, which would have allotted him the ability to use a club to crush things that are 1/100th his own size. Ants and Forest Imps immediately spring to mind.

EDIT THE SECOND: Added Baphomet, destroyer of Prontera to the list.

Didn't the giant hit him with it's club once?

I suppose it would matter about who is more powerful, The Lich said he was a master of the 10 levels of magic, BM is a master of 9 levels of magic and a beginer in Blue Magic. We've only seen The Lich use a thunder spell beefed up with dark energy so maybe he was lying,

The "little Goblin" is called a Pygman or something in Final Fantasy IIIj.

Blue magic, well...considering what Black Mage has already gone through, it's a wonder he's still alive. Remember, he needs to survive the attack to learn it. He still isn't immune to it afterwards as well.

To add to the monsters list, there was Choas' servant who met them at the 32-bit bridge.

The "Chaos' servant" guy was a Baphomet from 'Ragnarok'.
