Lurker here, doing a one-post dealy. Sorry if this has been brought up anytime before, but I'm assuming it hasn't and also assuming that at least one person will find this interesting.

Mmm... I smell an intellectual property suit...
... if Brian had the money and constitution to follow through with one, of course...
... and if he actually had a "case," I suppose.

I smell a lawsuit coming on if Brian wanted to he might have a case. But then again if he is what he sounds like then he proubely the most lazeyest man alive which make him my hero.

I don't plan on suing over a coincident, an obvious idea, or an homage.

What about an obviously coincidental homage?

Yeah, Brian's not gonna sue, especially since references to 8-Bit have been seen in at least a couple of other comics and video-games.

Everquest had a quest involving getting "Sword-chucks", and I think there were others.
What comic was this? It looked Anime-y, and the chick getting chopped in half was pretty cool. And it doesn't look like they're actual sword chucks, as sword-chucks would be smaller and have little or no handle, mainly being held by the chain itself, which would be somewhat large, but not that large.
The weapon she uses is merely two normal sized swords connected by a length of chain, and they are held by the handles. I assume this does allow her to swing the one sword while holding onto the other, but I'm mostly guessing they're connected as the swords are required to be used in tandem, and to keep the wielding from dropping one mid fight.
