View Full Version : Avatar Arena: Premonitions vs. Twiddy
Raiden

The two fighters stood in their arena. The arena was wide open and grassy with no obstacles around. However, there is a large cross cut in the grass, giving the area a holy feeling.
Far away, Raiden is taking a peaceful nap, Rhiya sleeping on his shoulders.
(This is the Blessed Field arena. Twiddy won Arena Advantage. The holiness of this arena increases the power of his Light Spells)
The Wizard Who Did It

Glowing runes magically appeared in the air above the arena. Lines formed circles, which formed cylinders, which formed what seemed to be an entrance to heaven. The portal stood magnificently in the air for a fraction of second before something shot out of it. A brown bullet flew toward the Earth with full intent of collision. The object struck the ground, forming a small crater in the lush plains. Wind blew away from the Wizard, catching the morning dew and flinging it into the air. The water formed a rainbow, which only seemed to glorify the entrance of the Wizard.
With a slow, non-caring movement the Wizard rose to his feet, back facing his prey. He stood there for a few seconds, took a deep breath. With a violent jerk, his left hand shot out to his side. His ebony scabbard flew from his side to his hand. With another violent jerk, his right hand shot to his side. His silvery sword jumped from the scabbard, making a graceful arc before landing in his hand. The Wizard took a sniff of his surroundings, as his arms slowly dropped to his sides. His scabbard rode up his arm, and his sword hung limp before, the Wizard at perfect ease with his surroundings. He slowly turned around and rose his sword, pointing the blade at Premonitions.
“Premonitions. It is indeed an honor to fight you. However, please understand that I am not in the mood to chat. In fact, I feel an urge to fight. I ask that you make the first move, and… let’s get this crazy party started.”

Otto sat crosslegged facing him. Except for his eyes, ears, and nose, he remained completely motionless. After a few seconds, he spoke.
"I believe you to be mistaken as to my identity. I do however concur that this fight is one of great honor, for both of us. Alas, I must insist that you take the first action."

To say that the Wizard was disappointed would be incorrect. He was more shocked than anything. He had never imagined Premonitions to be a coward of any sort, so he guessed that something important must have come up. The Wizard kicked over a stone.
"I believe you to be mistaken as to my identity. I do however concur that this fight is one of great honor, for both of us. Alas, I must insist that you take the first action."
Great! Just great! Now if you accidentally kill him, you can’t say it was in self-defense! It was too much to hope that you could be quiet throughout this tournament, right? You got your hopes up? Dumbass. The Wizard sighed and looked around the peaceful plains. To a mage, this arena was some kind of heaven. The grass provided life to summon things, as well as lots of foliage to control. It also provided fuel to burn. The cross gave enhanced healing and holy powers. However, the Wizard wished to save his resources. If he had to start, he should start small. The Wizard’s hand glowed blue, and he shot it out, palm facing the Newb. Before him, the water in the air condensed and collected. Little icicles formed and grew. Eventually, the Wizard closed his hand and the blue glow vanished with a burst of light. The massive quantity of icicles, each about six inches long, sped toward the Newb.

Otto, seeing the icicles coming, raised a hand and began reversing the spell of the icicles. He only started it however, and did not do any more. Meanwhile, like a swing which has been twisted and then released, the icicles began both slowing and sublimating, then, as the final icicle dissolved inches from Otto's nose, icicles began forming in front of him and shooting back towards the source, as though the momentum of unwinding had carried through into winding the other way. However, much like the swing, the momentum did not carry as far as the original would have, and there were fewer and smaller icicles than had been in Twiddy's blast.
"A battle is not determined entirely upon what one individual or another can do. It is well to remember that there is very little you can do which can not be undone and turned around, if someone knows how. This is why observing is very important, my worthy adversary. If you see how something is done, it is very easy to undo. A room is much harder to clean if you have never seen it straightened. I offer this advice freely, for even if you use it to defeat me, in its use you will help me to spread my teachings."

The Wizard sighed at the Newb’s statement. To assume that something so obvious was news would be foolhardy. The Wizard tensed for a second, digging his heels into the ground. His wings collapsed into his body, as he jumped to the left out of the way of the incoming projectiles. He seemed to glide across the ground a safe distance away, charging his magic. His right hand, which was facing his enemy, was glowing red. His other, which was concealed, was green.
When his feet touched ground again, the Wizard shot out his right hand and let his left one drop a little. A fireball formed right in front of the Wizard and shot toward the Newb. His left hand merely clenched, as the green faded away dully. While the fireball raced toward it’s victim, the grass behind the Newb made an interesting transformation. A rectangular piece of the grass, as tall as the Wizard’s opponent and half that in width, seemed to become erect and hard. Essentially, they formed little needles. The rectangular patch of grass then seemed to spring up toward the back of the Newb, as though it was some kind of hunter’s trap.
The Wizard himself stood there, waiting to see what would happen. He was ready to move if necessary out of the way.

Otto knew that a simple reversal would not do the trick here. It was for this reason that he sprang forwards. Utterly unaware of the trap behind him, he leapt forwards and sidestepped the ball of fire, grabbing as he did so, spinning about, and hurling it back at the wizard with increased speed. Small pieces of the fireball fell off, reducing its power, but with the greater speed it would be harder to dodge.

The Wizard now had a plan formed in his mind. It would work, and it would be glorious. It would either bring a crushing victory, or a dismal defeat. … Do you listen to yourself? Are there any other choices? The Wizard ignored the little voice in his head so he could concentrate. He could easily dodge the fireball coming at him, but he did not see the need. His plan, now called Plan Kill Newb, would not allow such a maneuver.
The Wizard ducked down into a stance, and stretched out both his hands. They assumed the same position one would for holding a bat, and started to glow bright red. Flames grew from his hands and seemed to form a disk with a stick on it. After the embers assumed they’re shape it looked like a blazing racket. With a little huff, the Wizard struck the fireball coming his way back at the Newb. The racket disappeared, but enlarged the fireball to a much greater size than it was before. The force of the blast sent it back to the Newb at rapid speeds.

Otto, brought his arm up to his side adn stepped forwards, palm-striking forwards just as the fireball struck, reversing its direction once more.
"Would you like some help, noble adversary? You aren't going to hit me if I can see your attempt. Keep in mind that I move only to deflect your blows."

The Wizard sighed. He didn’t care too much about the Newb’s ignorance, he had just played into his hand. The next step of Plan Kill Newb would shortly commence!
The Wizard took out his hands, summoning up energy from the area around him. Water element was sucked up from the life around him, making the dew covered grass slightly dry. The water formed into a sphere in front of him. As the fireball got closed, the Wizard raised his glowing hands to block the incoming projectile. The fireball hit the liquid. Hot steam rushed into the Wizard’s face, not damaging him due to his natural resistance to magic. Effectively, the Wizard was now covered in a cloud of smoke, and could not be seen by the naked eye.

Not under attack, Otto settled down on the grass once more.
The Wizard Who Did It
05-01-2006, 06:49 PM
The Wizard didn't see an attack coming. Unfortunately, he couldn't see much. The smokescreen covered what he was doing, but it also made it difficult to see what he was doing. The Wizard picked up his legs into a medatative stance as the steam blew gently around him. He started to pull the water out of the plants on the far end of the field. He also started to turn the grass around where he suspected the Newb was into more needle traps. He was going to turn this entire arena against his enemy if he had the chance.

Otto didn't realise that the grass was being turned into needles, but he did see several blades of grass straighten, and could see the magical energies pulsing within them.
"Heh, you are trying to make the grass grow to entangle me, perhaps? Seems you are inexperienced at it. Here, let me help"
He twisted his handsand duplicated the energies he was sensing in the grass, sending the energies into the area covered by steam. The spell felt a little odd, not like a growth spell exactly, but he figured that different mages had different ways of casting spells. He enhanced the spell as he duplicated it, making it so that the affected grass would grow to above head-height.
The Wizard Who Did It

The Wizard started to channel more magic into the area around him. The steam started to dissipate, unclouding his eyes. His insides started to clench, a feeling he had felt rarely before. It was the feeling of having your magic turned against you. It felt like a certain kind of betrayal, it bit deep. The Wizard shrugged it off and looked down. Sure enough, his magic had been reversed on him. However, due to the miskaen intentions of the spell, the magic was warped, and comparitively slow. The spines of grass were rising, but gradually.
The Wizard beat his wings and rose into the air. His hands were glowing blue. As a distraction, the Wizard shot a bit of water in the bolstering foliage below him, slightly spuring their growth. At the same time, the water behind the Newb condensed and formed icicles. The icicles sped toward the enemy, all according to Plan Kill Newb. Could you actually have come up with a more stupid name? Why in the world do you feel the need to comment all the fuggin' TIME! Meh.

The icicles struck him in the back, hard. A few lodged between ribs, others bounced off of those same ribs, often breaking the rib in the process, and one even pierced his spine. Thankfully, none came too close to any vital organs. His, lungs, however, did get the wind knocked out of them, and so he was unable to vocalize his anguish. Unable to move his legs any longer, only his arms and head moved as he silently screamed in pain. His arms came up and gripped his long front hair, and pulled as his head reared back. After a few seconds he managed to regain his composure and part of his breath.
"That was..." gasp "...good. I mis..." gasp "...took your casting..." gasp "...for one of a more..." gasp "...botanical nature."
He flexed his hands. How did that spell of his go? Ah, yes, you twist reality here and manipulate moisture there... He repeated Twiddy's icicle attack from behind, although in his weakened state, he wasn't able to achieve the same affect as that which had crippled him.
The Wizard Who Did It

The Wizard had little to spare. As soon as he had shot his water spell, we was already charging magic through his system. Resting his feet on a transparent platform in the air, the Wizard started to force magic into the growing grass spikes. The spell was spurred, and more grass in the area started to straighten and grow. His hands were glowing a bright green, as he felt his magic start to drain. Since the growth had already started, the Wizard found that he would not need to exhaust any more magic. Although not even close to his limit, he knew that to continue using his magic on such a simple task would be a waste. The plants were starting to grow themselves, saturated by the life force put into them.
The Wizard got ready to use magic again when he felt the air cool around him. A slight gust of wind chilled his spine. He looked behind him and noticed icicles condensing. Perfect plan… forget that you have an enemy that, oh yeah, counters just about every-friggin’-thing you do. Smart plan. And… this completely disregards the fact that he’s using magic as his counter. Instead of something physical? Did I give you permission to talk? No? Yeah, shut up. The Wizard quickly Brought his hand back and gripped his katana. Like lightning, his hand jumped in front of him as he rotated his katana around. The blade acted as some type of propeller and pushed the Wizard back while cutting up a few of the icicles. Unfortunately, he was too late. A few of the icicles got through and stabbed the Wizard, one in the arm and one in the leg. Due to his natural resistance, the magic had no where near the effect that a rock thrown at him would. However, someone throwing a rock at him is deadly, so we’ll neglect that comparison. Essentially, the effect was similar to a normal person being slightly stabbed be a pencil. A bit of numbness, a bit of ache, but it hurt like a… female dog.
The Wizard slowed down as the cool feeling of the ice clashed with the burning of his nerves. He took a few breaths, and turned to the Newb as the grass below him grew on its own. “Y’know, you really should know better than to try to hurt an experienced mage with magic. But then, it seems that all you can do is imitate, not innovate.”

“Yeah, whatever.”
The Wizard looked down and noticed that the growth had started to expand across the arena. The spiky grass was growing and making the plains turn into… some place with tall grass in some parts. What? I failed geography.
Anyways, the Wizard decided to turn his attention to more… important matters. He started to charge his magic again. Again dual casting spells. His what would be a blue and a green glow turned into an aqua one. Slowly, he pulled water from the grass in the center of the growing grass. The water moved into the air, but did not condense. It merely started to become steam. At the same time, he started to turn the grass behind the Newb into needles. It seemed that this fight was getting repetitive. Again, though, all according to Plan Kill Newb…

"So, concealing yourself in steam again? It worked a little, as you can see from the state of my spine, but it will not help you in the long run."
The Wizard Who Did It
05-02-2006, 08:04 PM
The Wizard looked down from his platform. He said, almost with a sigh, “Indeed.”
He again began using his magic to control the environment. His head was now starting to feel odd. He had used a lot of magic in a short amount of time. His eyes began to contract. His features became almost unnoticeably more angular. A manic glint was coming to his eye, but the magic continued on. More water vapor entered the arena, making the steam denser. The evaporated water started to cover the arena like a fog. The plants grew a tinge of brown, and their growth started to slow. The spine traps behind the Newb were now finished. With a sudden, unseen jerk of his hand the spine traps sprung up to hit the enemy in the back.

With a sickening crunch, Otto was crushed by the spike traps.
His mangled body began to twist and writhe, his spasming vocal cords forming words that never existed. Among those which could almost be understood were "Blathering Blatherskytes!", "Mainsail the undercarriage!" and "Bottom of the evening!"
Those who had the seeing of magic would notice a glowing point of magic centered in his spasming body. Energy swirled into it, aligned Life.
The spike traps peeled back to reveal Kly. Looking much like Otto except with messier hair, and a green tie instead of a black and white one, Kly straightened up, and turned to face the spike traps. With a twisting of his hands, the spike traps shuddered, and then ran together. He turned to face Twiddy, and behind him, A gigantic hound of vines arose out of the spike traps.
"How will you fare now, with the arena arrayed against you?"
The Wizard Who Did It
05-03-2006, 08:11 PM
The Wizard had a look of glee on him as the traps consumed the Newb. Victory… accomplished. … Well, I must say, I didn’t expect him to go down that easily. Be cautious. He probably isn’t out yet. The Wizard didn’t care about caution, though. He tasted victory. He smelled its sweet scent. He felt calm, and more in control. He had a better feeling that he could win this tournament. He looked down toward his defeated opponent to gaze upon his victory. The steam slowly drifted away.
Standing as the traps receded, Newb had a slightly more wild look to him. He also had… a bit of element. A bit of magic. A bit of power. The magic was obviously concentrated in a small area, and it was very powerful. The Wizard’s eyes just winced. He blinked a few times. But… my victory… so close…The Brown Cloaked One looked down at the grassy fields and sighed. He said out loud slowly, with an air of defeat in his voice, “My therapist was right. God does hate me…”
With those encouraging words on his mind, the Wizard stopped summoning water from the plants. The steam had grown to an appreciable size. It covered the arena hovering slightly above the bed of grass, and was fairly hard to see through. The Wizard was surprised that he could easily make out how the Newb made a dog out of vines. With a whip of his hands, he used small amounts of wind magic to force the steam around him away from his body. The gentle warm gas left his skin as he raised his hand to perform another spell. Small amounts of lightning moved through the air, eventually connecting with the steam. Carried by the water vapor, the voltage moved quickly, covering the arena. The only things spared were the grass on the ground and the Wizard himself. However, the electricity seemed to strain the steam, as the steam began to vanish shortly after the spell was cast.

The grass itself indeed. The gigantic hound sprang forwards and its chest opened to admit Kly passge within as it hunkered down to tide out the blast.
As the electrical cracklings ended, the great beast rose.
The elemental balance of the arena had shifted again. When Kly took the driver's seat, Life had just barely been the most abundant element. Now, with the dispersal of the steam, Water had been removed from the equation, and Life held over a third of the field, as opposed to the just over a quarter it had before.
The already large canine Audrey Two seemed to gain further energy, growing and strengthening. Down the spine, larger thorns formed, and a mane of flowers began to grow.
"Oh, rest assured seedling, it is not just God that hates you."

IC: The Wizard looked down at the massive beast below him. They may offer you fortune and fame! The power of the Newb seemed to grow as the plants around the Wizard became more dominant in the arena. Love and money and instant acclaim! The Wizard was mainly safe at the moment due to his elevation and the fact that the dead plants were under him. But whatever they offer you! Obviously, I will have to cut down on the amount of living plants in the area. Don’t feed the plants! Which means that for now I should stick to Plan Kill Newb. They may offer you lots of cheap thrills. I mean, it will certainly cut down on his supplies! Fancy condos in Beverly Hills! The problem is that he may not be only be aligned with the plants. But whatever they offer you! Would you just SHUT-Don’t feed the plants!- UP! Heh heh. What’s so funny? He’s so screwed.
The Wizard ignored the comment and started to slowly descend to the fallen foliage beneath him. He was very apparently starting to gather magic into his body. A red aura surrounded him. His pupils started to become more ovular, and his features became more course as his body changed into a slightly more lean figure. The red aura was just about on fire when the Wizard’s toes touched the deteriorating plants. He raised his hand and stated quite clearly, in a sarcastic tone, “‘Simply amazing, Newb. You really do remember me this time. I am so FLATTERED!’”*
The Wizard brought his arms out dramatically, as circular weapons formed in his hand. Flames erupted from the ground, burning away the leaves around him. The dust attempted to cloud his vision, but he could clearly see. The fire licked the Wizard’s ankles, curing his exhaustion. The Wizard held his stance, and then shouted out in what sounded like rage, “‘But you’re too late!’”*
His dramatic gesture done, the circular weapons vanished. The flames continued to burn the fields. The progress was relatively slow, but soon the entire plains would be on fire.
OOC: *I deserve to die for ruining this.

A worried look on his face, Kly edged away from the spreading flames.
After it had spread some distance however, he stopped, and grinned.
Anyone watching his aura would have seen it change from life to flame.
With a wave of his hands, his canine vine, which had been literally shrinking away from the spreading fire burst into flames and began to grow again.
Kly strode forwards into the flame and stood at the center.
"MagmaClaw! Spread your element further and faster. We must show this three-part fool who the superior psycho is."
The massive canine bowed and leapt to the edge of the field and began running around the perimiter, spreading as much fire as possible.

Once again there was a very vehement argument in the near distance. It was clear that Rhiya had awoken and was discussing something heatedly with Raiden - while also perched on his shoulder.
Snatches of the conversation floated down to be heard.
"...say I should make Newb lose!"
"...shouldn't. You allowed him to have three forms..."
".... has Arena Advantage. He's not having much of an advantage now..."
"....doing the best he can..."
Then this was punctuated by a loud cry, "I don't CARE what you think, damnit! I'm doing it anyway!"
~~
BOOM!!
Unprepared and unwary a shockwave juddered through the arena, deafening both competitors for the rest of the fight and consequently snuffing out the fire as effectively as heavy rain. Both fighters clutched at their ears. from whence a bit of blood trickled out due to burst eardrums.
MagmaClaw staggered, and fell to its various knees, keening in pain at the sudden shock of a third attacker, as well as the sudden loss of all the elemental fire it had lovingly created.
The Arena still looked like it had a holy symbol carved into it, albeit slightly wonky and the grass a bit uprooted/flattened.
~~
Raiden opened and closed his mouth several times. Then, glowering at Rhiya, he crossed his arms.
".... You'd better have a good explanation for how you managed to get the God of Wind on your side."
"Yo."
"Hehehehe," Rhiya grinned a nasty grin.
[OOC: competitors are deafened for the rest of the battle. After the first tournament 'round', you will get your hearing back again.]

With all the fire gone, MagmaClaw simply dissipated.
With no existing creature to alter to fit the new balance, Kly called one up.
With a wave and twist of his hands towards the large cross in the field, BrightWing began to form, a massive angelic figure.
----------------------------------------------------
"Kly, I'm going to go take care of something.
I'll have one of the others sit here just to prevent death.
Remember Kly, if they actually fight, we forfeit.
So if they end up as the drivers it's because we've already lost.
Don't base any plans on them."
"I know Otto, I was at the breifing too.
What are you going to be doing?"
"Don't worry about it."
With a sensation of growing wind, Otto was gone, and another persona took his place.
The Wizard Who Did It
05-06-2006, 02:00 AM
The Wizard tilted his head to scan the arena. The smoky mist blurred his vision, the flames blocked his sight. The crackling of the inferno hid the sounds of battle beyond the fiery world that the Wizard was now in. The bitter taste of ashes was in his mouth. His red fiery aura burned brightly. The Wizard took one step at a time toward the towering flames in front of him. The fires beneath him rode up his ankles, tickling his heels. The charred grass was crushed beneath his feet, as the light of the flames brightened his face. He extended his now course hand into the fire, and felt a chill. The fire was cold, an ebony flame which frothed with lava. The molten embers, colored a deep metallic cyan, dripped toward the ground. As the flames struck the dead plants beneath them, they hardened into frost. The frost grouped into snow, which clustered into ice.
The Wizard flexed his enlarged wings. His features were becoming more… bestial. The fire before the Wizard started to melt. Chunks and slivers of the blazing tower crumbled toward the Earth in puddles of lava. The lava quickly chilled into glittering ice, which started to cover the scorching lands around the Wizard. The crimson flames outlining the Wizard slowly became a deep violent, and then changed to a soothing indigo. The Wizard grasped another wall of flames with his now dexterous hands, turning the smoldering embers into lakes of ice. The blue blaze started to engulf the Wizard, burning away the fire around him. The land was now cool, the indigo fires around him dying. The area around the Wizard was an oasis of ice in a sea of fire.
The minor exertion had an effect on the Wizard. His pupils had now become slits, like a cat’s. His features were very lean, his body angular. His wings were now not so flamboyant, but sharp, like that of a small, swift bird. Suddenly, a massive change swept the field. Winds erupted, swirling viciously around the Wizard. His cloak rippled because of the mighty gust, and his wings bent to shield him from the incoming ash. The numerous flames still standing were blown out, the ice sheeting the floor was ripped up into shards. The glittering crystals made a dazzling display of light that surely would have chimed like a bell. There was one problem: the Wizard found that he couldn’t hear. He found this disturbing, as he was slowly draining his sanity and magic in this fight. Not many times lately had he consumed so much magic doing so miniscule things. The chime of the bells would have surely soothed his aching heart, but he was denied such simple joys. The Wizard noticed not the blood dribbling down his ears, only scanned the arena for the source of the change, the source of the disappointment, the source of the chaos.
The Wizard’s eyes noticed Rhiya. The girl who had once used chaos as her weapon, now seemed to employ Gods to do her bidding. The Wizard pondered at how this could be done, and quickly scratched that thought. Opening his mouth, the Wizard yelled in words he could not hear, “Why the hell did you do that, Rhiya? I could have handled that on my own! That was completely unnecessary, that was completely dishonorable! I wanted a fair fight with Newb, not one skewed so my way!”
Done ranting toward the judge, the Wizard turned his body to face The Newb. The arena was now in ruins. Dead grass littered the floor, leaving some of the area bare. The Earth that was hidden from before now showed it’s face. The Wizard took a deep breath, and extended out his hands. The chime that he wished to hear would not come, and if he wanted to hear the chime, he knew he had to win. He had a goal now, beyond victory. He had a goal now, beyond arrogance. He had a goal now, beyond what urge to fight he has. His goal was the chime of the shards in the wind. His goal was peace after this battle.
The blue fiery aura around the Wizard ignited. The blaze extended, catching the bare rocks around him on fire. The embers quickly burned out leaving ice, as the Wizard charged his magic. With a jerk of his hands, the flames of ice shot at the Angelic being the Newb had called forth, leaving a trail of frost in its path.

Holy magic is different from many other schools of magic. It was this difference which was made use of now. Holy magic was that of protection, and healing. And, yes, the occasional smiting. But the thing was, only the high level spells were for attacking. The angel put up its left hand and intoned the words to nulfrost moments before the ice hit. As soon as the shield was up, Brightwing prepared a double casting of mute and hold.
Meanwhile, the now-deaf summoner was moving towards Twiddy, but also sideways counterclockwise around him, hands at belt.
The Wizard Who Did It

The Wizard dug his hands into the frost beneath him. The azure flames outlining the Wizard crackled, slowly building up the ice around him. His wings folded against his body, as he stared at the enemy before him. The pseudo-angel had effectively stopped the flames of ice, and was busy charging up some type of spell. Negligible. The Wizard then noticed that his main enemy was coming closer. Arching his back like some kind of animal, the Wizard jumped back, away from his foe. His cloak began to cling to his body like a second skin, maybe even like fur. While in the air, the beautiful blue flames surrounding the Wizard started to change into a more putrid color. A dark muddy pigment, unclean in the utmost sense. Quickly, although not fast enough some might say, the blaze turned into a dull brown.
The Wizard hit the ground, landing on all fours. The dead grass beneath was ground into the Earth, as the area was unfrozen around him. The flames cracked, and dust formed around the Wizard. The plants around him began to be covered in sand. The Wizard snarled like a dog, then lifted himself off the ground. His appearance was more regal now, if more bestial.
Content with the range he had between himself and his opponent, the Wizard began to gather energy into his hands. Brown spheres formed n his palms right before he brought up his arms making an “X” like figure. Brown flames rose to the left and right of the Wizard, and began to rush toward the Newb, ready to cross their paths. The inferno left the dead plants, barren Earth, and solid ice on fire in their wake. Dust swirled in the remains, as the flames began to fade. Left behind were rocks, gravel on the arena. When the already magically formed ice and the already magically formed boulders had met, fertile soil was left behind. Before the murky flames met the Newb, they began to dissolve and form massive rocks. The rocks both blocked the approach of the enemy as well as moved forward to crush the Newb.

BrightWing's wings faded as the power of Ground grew, but the redubbed SanctuaryGaurdian ignored this as it released the charged spells, sending them towards the schizo mage.
Meanwhile, Kly stood his ground, waiting for the wall of earth to approach with his hand on his belt. Just before it hit him, he slammed his thumb onto the upper left button. Odd energies swirled around him as the wave struck an invisible bubble, and flowed around it. He was swept back a few feet, but afterwards the wall was behind him. As soon as the wall had passed, both bubble and button dissapeared.

The Wizard waited to see the effect of his attack. The rocky flames were successfully blocked by the Newb, but they fire had still accomplished it’s purpose. The blaze had burned rocks into the desolate arena. The arena was slowly turning into a multi-elemental wonderland, a nightmare for the geomancer that his opponent seemed to be. The crackling flames surrounding the Cloaked One started to become a sickly color brown color, much like puke. Before the transformation was complete, he took a sniff of his surroundings. Something magical was coming. With a grimace, the Wizard carelessly glanced in the direction of the Angelic being. A spell was coming right for him.
The fire around the Wizard erupted, quickly becoming a bright ebony color. The glorious light illuminated the land, as the flames danced gracefully around the Cloaked One. The flames roared unheard by the fighters, rearing up to block the incoming projectile. The blaze swirled, slowly forming a shining shield. The shield stood resolute against the mute and hold spell, deflecting it harmlessly into the Earth. He turned his attention back to the Newb, as the flames around the Cloaked One became a lively Green.

SanctuaryGaurdian unsheathed a blade and plunged it into the ground. Something clicked, and soon the earth began churning. It wasn't going to affect the fighters, but anything trying to take root would be sucked under and mulched.
Meanwhile, Kly aimed his belt buckle at Twiddy and thumbed the lower right button, followed by the upper right three times in quick succession. As the net shot at Twiddy, Maddock aimed his throwing eagles.

The green flames around the Wizard burned and flared. Catching fire upon the soil around him, the flames burned gracefully for a spell. Slowly, the flames gave way to life, leaving behind a delicate flower. The flower stood, on fire but never burning. It seemed to grow and mature as the flames died away. Suddenly, the delicate flower was sucked beneath the earth, crushed by the forced beneath the Wizard. The chime entered the Wizard’s thoughts again, remembered but never heard. Am I to be denied such simple pleasures this fight? You know, I have to say… This fight amuses me only in the way that a deadly beast playing around with an ignorant weakling could. Who’s the beast in this case? Newb, or him? Oh, they’re both weaklings. Raiden and Rhiya are the ones playing with them.
The Wizard was just about too far gone to hear them or care. He noticed the incoming net and projectiles, and got down on all fours. He bared what were now fangs at the Newb as the vivid green fire around him brightened into an eye-killing yellow. The flames seemed to wisp around the Wizard, blowing out only to be replaced by a new blaze. Dust rose, as an unheard whistle screamed across the arena. The flames shot forward toward the net and the projectiles, launching the Wizard back where he landed o all fours. The blaze seemed to slowly vanish, becoming strong gusts of air, changing the direction of the projectiles slightly so they would miss the escaping Mage. The air blast also put the Wizard far out of reach of the net.
The winds in the arena picked up, swirling around, making the fur-like cloak around the Wizard stand on end as the flying sand dampened the fighters vision slightly.

As SanctuaryGaurdian drew his sword out of the ground, the earth around Kly spiked up, grabbing the pieces of sand before they could bother him. Kly drew more throwing eagles from the holster while SanctuaryGaurdian charged towards the beast. As he charged, he seemed to shrink slightly, and tiny wings appeared on his back, but as the wind died down he swelled up again and the wings dissapeared. Kly let loose the projectiles just as SG reached Twiddy, swinging his sword.
