View Full Version : Two types of "anything goes" categories? Which one do I use??

Okay, so I looked at the mess known as the "General" category, and found that it's pretty much "anything goes"... but then I looked at the "Off-Topic" category, and it seems to be roughly the same!! What's the difference??

General is a bit more serious than Off Topic. In Off Topic, comments and replies that are "just for fun" or, well, off topic are tolerated, although plain spam is still forbidden.
Basically where you put a topic depends on how you want the discussion to go - if it's a question or topic you'd prefer to be handled in a serious manner, General is the way to go, if it's just to have fun, put it in Off Topic. (Exception are really really serious topics related to politics, sociology and such - those go into Discussion.)
