This would most likely fit better in the Comics subforum.
That out of the way, I have a special place in my heart for the likes of Bob and George (bobandgeorge.com), and Ctrl+Alt+Del (ctrlaltdel-online.com). Everything else sucks. Especially if it's a sprite comic, and most especially if it's written by that hack Brian Clevinger.

Ctrl+Alt+Del is ass! "look at me doing stupid old lame generic geek jokes and...i really need to get laid."
Penny Arcade (www.penny-arcade.com)
and this.
Oh, and The Villain, (http://www.insanityink.com/index.html) simply because other than 8bit, it is the only intelligent sprite comic out there; i really should read it more.

There should be a few net-wide laws regarding comics:
1. No PA bashing.
2. No CAD bashing.
3. No sprite comics.
4. No megaman.
5. No drug, sex, pie, or alcohol "jokes."
6. No character should ever say "LOL".

No sprite comics, eh, transcend?
There goes 8-Bit Theater! Oops. D:
There's several good sprite-based webcomics out there. Just because something's made in sprites doesn't mean it automatically bites. Besides, Newgrounds has proven that people can still make crappy flash movies without being reliant on sprites - so sprites shouldn't be given any bad credit.

Okay, so, you realize that PA has done more than one alcohol/sex-based joke, right? I mean, according to your laws, that may be a legitimate gripe, but also according to your laws, we would not be allowed to bash PA as a result of it. That's weirding me out right there.
And no sprite comics? You're on the wrong forum, buddy.

Look. Don't get me on technicalities. I love 8BT. I love AMD. But my eyes burn with Samus, Megaman, and stole 8BT sprites.
Wander around the darker side of webcomics. Observe the terrors 14-year-olds with MS paint can unleash. See how many times people think it's LIEK, RELLY FUNNEH to make Samus or Megaman drunk. Or smoke pot. Or say "FSCK!" a lot. Basically, it's a fucking laugh riot just because a video game character is doing something the author's mom won't let him do.
See how many people think nonsequitors are automatically really funny CANOPY CHEESE LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!!!!!!!!!
I'm sick and tired of crappy comics. While many are hand-drawn, far more are sprite comics, since it takes no artistic ability WHATSOEVER to make sprite comics. 8BT redeems itself by being exceedingly well-written--well-written to the point that no media but sprites would work for the comic. Most comics out there simply aren't.
Moreover, I don't like the trend of bashing popular comics, by people who believe it makes them really cool. Plenty of people read and like CAD. It may not be the Second Coming of Jesus, but it isn't bad at all. Why does everyone feel the need to make fun of it? And Christ, PA is the most successful comic out there. Why do so many people think it makes them cooler to say 'PA IS STUPID!'
Now, my little self-important, hypocritical foray may not hold much water. And there are quality sprite comics out there. But hopefully you can at least agree with me that the internet is littered with the dead, non-updated remains of really, really, really crappy sprite comics.

For something truely disturbing, check of portal of evil's bad comics section. It hurts my brain to just think of it.
It bugs me to see sprite comics on the top at TWC and Buzz. To see poorly written sprite comics take the place of people who are artists just annoys me to no end.
Hamelin

But, then, you disregard the fact that there are poorly written comics that aren't sprites, as well. There are poorly drawn comics too.
Can't we just say 'This comic sucks, and here's why' rather then so crudely group so many things together?
Deckmaster

Not all sprite comics suck. Reference Kid Radd (http://www.kidradd.com) and Secret of Mana Theater (http://www.manatheater.com). One uses very well done original sprites and the other is just as funny as 8-Bit.
As for webcomics in general, two of my favorites are Sluggy Freelance (http://www.sluggy.com) and Life of Riley (http://www.clanbob.net), and I also like Spelling the Vacuum (http://www.room931.com/Spelling.html), even though it takes forever for the author to update it. These are all in a similar genre of "real and/or realistic people in unreal situations."

Hamelin, I understand that, but:
1. At least in most badly drawn comics, the author/artist put some work in it.
2. I never said it held for all comics. No rule holds firm.
3. After running across a higher proportion of really crappy sprite comics than anything else, I developed a bias against sprite comics no amount of logic will remove.

There are...well...let's just say a lot of online comics I follow. Bruno the Bandit, El Goonish Shive, Funny Farm, Gaming Guardians, General Protection Fault, Hallopino...
And that's not even halfway through my folder of links. Gives me an easy way to kill a half-hour each day though.

Here, I shall enlighten you all to how it's not the media that makes a comic suck, its the writer. Here are some good sprite comics:
A Modest Destiny (http://www.squidi.net/) (All original pixel art, but they look enough like sprites to be called sprites)
Kid Radd (http://www.kidradd.com/) (again, with the original stuff)
River City High (http://diversions.toonzone.net/rivercityhigh/)
Secret of Mana Theater (http://www.manatheater.com/)
The Villain (http://www.insanityink.com/)
They all may not be your cup of tea, but a lot of effort is put into every one of those comics, and it shows.

HERETICS! None of you dare mention RPGWorld? The bone-headedness of Hero rivals that of fighter! Diane and BM would be a great couple! And Cherry and Thief could trade sarcasm and cynicism all day long!
EDIT: www.rpgworldcomic.com - rpgworld.com takes you to an international RPG site.

i look and i think no one mentioned Scary Go Round (http://www.scarygoround.com) The style is unique and rather spiffy.
And one you have to read if you like the Wheel Of Time series is WoT Now? (http://shadowburn.com/wotnow/) It has all the sprite based goodness as 8bit but parodies the books.
plus one that is really great and it seems no one knows about it,Shaw Island! (http://students.washington.edu/durandal/shawisland/) start from the beginning to get it all in.

Caution Man is a pretty good one.
Oh how many laughs have been inspired by a single panel of superhero insanity. Its all done by real people so its interesting to see an acted out web comic.
Not to mention its highly enjoyable.

Have none of you read Slackerz!? Even after Brian linked it!? How can you not like completely random hilarity? I especially like the first one, because I think that's how we all really feel about internet advertisements.

http://www.supermegatopia.com
http://jack.keenspace.com
http://www.vgcats.com/
http://www.sabrina-online.com/
and even though these last 2 comics are "dead" now, they're still great to read. especially UJ, though it's probably the most intricately detailed thing I've ever read, in terms of universe creation and interesting physics.
http://www.unicornjelly.com
http://www.plif.com
I've got a pretty short list, but at least they're all high quality.
PvPOnline- http://www.pvponline.com This one is updated daily and is my absolute favorite.
8BT- In the event that you don't know where this is located, slam your head into the nearest hard object.
Bug and Slug- http://www.andressentertainment.com/bugandslug No one's mentioned this one before, but I love it. It's done in Flash, and is very interesting.
That's all. I also read Sexy Losers, but I can't link to it for...Hentai reasons.

I agree with you transcend but i make a crappy sprite comic and a crappy hand drawn comic and its all on a crappy web site but i still push on with the hope that some day i might have a non-crappy sprite comic and a non-crappy hand drawn comic and just maybe it could be on a non-crappy web site.now i not so sure that will ever happen but i sure as heck aint going to give up now just because some sprite bashers tell me to give up.
...thats about it...
[edit]well i feel like an idiot i only read the first 2 pages before i posted and also i think i opened myself up for a burn
