In response to PSR Director's permanant ban by krylo over a video game debate, I'm asking that PSR Director's status be reconsidered by peer moderators. For reasons stated in this topic (http://forum.nuklearpower.com/showthread.php?t=10856&page=5&pp=10) by myself.

I'm sure that you'll make the right decision.

Thankyou for making this a better forum :)

I read the whole thread. I disagree. If he's been issued a warning before hand, a long ban or even perma-ban seems just fine to me. His point aside, 'psr' let his emotions get the better, and he insulted a number of people, including mods who had warned him about such comments previously.

Further, I think you're calling krylo's actions 'moderator abuse' is not only wrong, but also unwise, and unwelcome. He didn't ban becuase of a disagreement on the topic, but becuase of behavior that is not allowed. The admins and mods WILL make the right decesion, but I think they already have.

Its their actions that MAKE this a better forum. They enforce a degree of civility that you don't find many other places online - least of all, in a webcomic's forum.

I can appriciate that you felt strongly enough about this to question it - its ok to watch out for other users. But I can't help but feel you didn't quite think this all the way through, or really know all of the details leading up to the ban.

Thank you for being polite about it elephant hunter, I do appreciate that. But, I am the admin who made the decision. PSRdirector has been a problem with us in the past as he has very little concept of civility, he shoots off at the mouth and is caustic and rude towards other users. He has been warned, and temp banned. Thje rule of progression goes warning, ban, perm ban.

If you don't believe this to be a bannable offense, please also understand that we have been lenient with him several times as well, letting him off without a ban. We use the permanent ban as a last resort in almost all cases (blatant disregard of rules aside) and it wasn't lightly that this decision was come to.

Ultimately, not a case of moderator abuse. I don't mind people speaking their minds sometimes, but perhaps instead of accusing krylo of abuse you could try to understand the reasons for the ban and get on with it.

PSR is gone, and if he comes back under a new name, that one will be gone too. He ruined his chances here by being insulting and degrading. An insult is an insult, be it horribly callous or just snobbishly offhanded.

This post will be mirrored in the GTA thread, as well.

Indeed, it is a rare occurance to see such a complaint laid out in such a wholly civilized and well thought out manner.

Around here, being called a 'fanboy' is an insult. It implies that the veiws of the person it is applied to, regarding the subject at hand, are so narrow, that they can only see positive aspects for one side, and only negative aspects for conflicting sides. It's similar to, say, moron in these forums. There are positive uses for it, yes, but in that type of situation the connotation is almost always negative.

Plus, PSR has always been abrasive. I've seen him be like that a multitude of times. It's disappointing that the mods had to perm-ban him, but he just wasn't learning, and was an unsavory element.

Also, please don't misinterpret the reasons that people are defending the mods and thier decisions. It's just that we all can see, and appreciate, the difference they do make, and know that without such a dilligent and, yes, strict moderator team, these forums would not be the bastion of intellegent conversation that they are today. And trust me on that. I've seen the before and after.
