I would like to point out something I have noticed that people might want to take into consideration when starting threads. It has happened with a lot of "I want to know your opinion on this (insert topic here)."
The following was posted by da Noble Savage, who wanted to know what people thought of the new Green Lantern comic (I am in no way placing blame on Noble, merely using a quote as an example)
Did anyone read this comic and like the story. Me personally I thought it was pretty much crap that was only saved by some half decent fight scenes. But story wise they drooped the ball.
This is not condusive to an unbiased discussion. Saying "Did anyone like the story." Is innocent enough, but following it with "I thought it was pretty much crap." Gets anyone who actually liked the story heated up about how something they like has been insulted. We won't have a good discussion like that.
I just want to point out as a suggestion that when asking for a person's opinion on a subject, posters not immediately alienate those who oppose their own opinion. Give your reasons, the more well thought out they are the better.
I have no problem with opinion threads. They intrigue me, and I actually learn stuff from them most of the time, but wording really helps.
