IHMN-Yeah, I should...in terms of plot. I guess I'll go with my second idea. N'Revat is starting to look like the Empire from FF VI.

Alan-I know what you mean, and sorry if I seemed like a jerk. The BM academy was fun, but I'm just looking for a bit more Plot-Oriented (Story shall always be more important than battle to me) rp.

It's not that I don't like you, it's just that I don't want such a powerful, and rather unexplainly motivated, character so soon. I have given a couple people permission to be quite powerful (now or later on) because it suited the roles they had.

Change your character to make it suitable if you wish and I'll see if it works.

Others-If you guys have been jerks to him (like I think I sorta was), apologize. I meant to give constructive critism when I addressed him, and if you didn't...well, say sorry at least.

I remember godmoding major first time to the old boards, and I was treated fairly well after that mistake. I don't want to start a cycle of insults.

I don't think it's really to late for Celes to join in... We aren't really a group yet, and I'm not sure we are going to be... Ecurt, after this is some wierd thing going to happen to force us to be in a group together, or shall we remain seperated?

Besides, BM and Cruelity joined, but haven't posted yet, so you could easily jump in, you having been a trained Dragoon warrior, it would make sense that you are in one of the armies... N' preferable, since Rad seems full

Name: Naras Itak (All "a"s as in Spanish, "e"s as in Spanish, too. i.e., a = "ah", e = "ee")

Physical Traits: Age 58, with a wiry but able 5'7" frame and white-streaked black hair tied up in many medium-sized dreadlocks. His hair's also tied with several decorative beads and ribbons, and his ears are pierced with dangling earrings that have very small and ritualistically decorated beads on them. He wears many thin and light robes; his outside robes colored deep red, and his inside robes colored a dark brown, with many elaborate embroidered ritualistic designs and tassles sewn on. Normally they hang off of his shoulders, closing at his waist where a sash of cords keeps his clothing closed.

He carries bags of potions and ingredients with him, usually tied to his sash or slung over his shoulders in small leather slingbags. On his feet are a pair of simple leather mocassins, padded on their soles with hardwood covered in leather for durability. Sometimes he wears a headdress of feathers, but usually only for show and effect when mooching the locals for cash. He has dark eyes and very dark and heavily wrinkled skin. His face is worn thickly with both smile lines and frown lines. He always carries his bow and quiver of arrows on his back when travelling, because sometimes a wild animal is better food than what can be bought at taverns. Or so he thinks, at least.

Class: Shaman

Main Skill: Raises spirits of dead animals and summons spirits of nature's creatures to augment his allies' abilities.
Secondary Skill: Makes potions of pretty much every type: Healing, mana, status-curing potions, augmentation potions...

Background: Naras was born into a small Indian tribe on the edge of N'Revat territory, into a family where his father was a shaman. He followed in his father's footsteps, as was tradition, and learned all about medicine and the secret arts of his tribe's shamen. He picked up several talents, ranging from creating healing potions to potions that could temporarily summon a spirit of nature to aid a warrior in his or her fight. One dark night, on his fifteenth birthday, his father took him aside and shared with him all the secrets of Spirit Summoning.

Over the next few years he proved to be a promising summoner of nature and a good healer, and was guided all through his apprenticeship to become a true master of his inherited craft. So it was that when his father died, he took his place as his tribe's leading shaman, and was even given a seat on the ruling council. But during his thirty-eighth year, a gang of marauders raided his village and slaughtered most of his people. It was only because of Naras and a band of six warriors that a mere twenty of his people, of over two hundred, survived. After this, he was the only member of the Council left alive, and so ordered his people to find a new home, or perhaps move to one of the N'Revat cities.

Which option they chose he'll never know, for he set out on a journey and explored the countryside as a traveling medicine man. He blamed himself for allowing his spirit shield, which had originally protected the village from attack, falter during the raid and allow the marauders to enter.

He's spent his last two decades roaming from one town to the next, province to province, and has built something of a small reputation for himself. In a certain corner of isolated Rab territory, not more than a few cities small, he's known as the 'Badlands Miracle Man', for his feats of healing and where he comes from.

Extra info: He travels with his pet falcon, which sits on his shoulders everywhere he goes. Sometimes he lets it fly off into the sky, then he comes back later on to share what he's seen with him. Kind of a pet scout.

Pre-Rp Relations: None right now, but if you like, he can be.

Here's my Character Profile, okayed by Ecurt himself.

Name: Blyr

Physical Traits: About 6'2" in height, and 18 years old. Is slightly muscle-ey, but his speed is greater than his strength, although both are slightly above-average. Has a light skin tone, brown eyes, and short brown hair, which he keeps in a slightly spike style. Mostly quiet and collected.

Class: Geomancer. Blyr is able to draw out some of nature's inner power, as he has grown up in it for his whole life. He doesn't know too much, but he tries to learn more as he encounters different enviornments to draw from.

Secondary Skill: Trainer. Much like his friend Ripel, Blyr also keeps a pet Green Chocobo, named Toc, who was an affinity for the Earth element. Toc's signature attack is the ChocoQuake, which causes a small quake around the chocobo.

Background: Blyr was raised on the border in small villages, but ever since he was about 5, he spent most of his time out in the forests. He enjoys being in nature, and can use some of nature's power. When he heard his friend Ripel joined the Rab army, Blyr was quick in following suit.

Extra info: He has had his Chocobo as long as he can remember. Elderly in the town say he had him since he was born, but Blyr doesn't think much of the matter. Also, he can use the Longsword with some skill, and keeps one with him whenever he goes into battle.

Pre-Rp Relations: Grew up as Ripel's friend, he and Ripel often had races with their chocobo, competed in 'duels' and even represented their villages when in the Village Challenge of Skill. Ripel usually wins the skill challenges due to his Mighty Guard ability, but not by a large margin...

There will be little fighting, that you can be sure of. Unless one of you decide to...but the fight isn't going to be initiated by one of my guys.
I see it more as a 'in-between' thing, the character interaction being th focus, because in Chapter 3 they'll be taken somewhere. That's when the save the world cliche shall probably enter. Or not. Who knows, other than me?

Dante? Arc is kind of a ninja.

He's just slow and meticulous. Not speedy. He tries to hide, and move slowly before picking locks and stuff. Not drop in, kung-fu them all, kill the leader and dispose of the body with lightning fast efficiency.

Hell, he don't even kill that often. In fact, he's never killed before.

Has anyone else noticed that this is starting to resemble Final Fantasy Tactics (the first one) only placed in an FF6 world? With the war story, no one really being the good/bad guy undeniably so far, and people's loyalties changing so that we don't really know whose side they're on?

We have Ciaran, the seemingly heartless/sadistic general of N'Revat, who gives rather... unethical orders... one of the few 'obvious' characters.

We have Dante, the hired magician, whose allegiance is unsure. He kills those who should be on his side, as well as his enemies.

We have Deamon, the N'Revat mercenary who just recently sent the anti-magic technology away to god knows where (presumably to the Rab forces, but we can't be sure it's not to a third party or someplace for himself).

We have Cecil McDoul, who seemed to be an N'Revat general until that last post, which no one saw icily, but betrays him as having somewhat difference allegiances.

Dezil, the seemingly good-hearted engineer, who follows Ciaran's unethical orders perfectly (and efficiently).

And then we have Elyse and Luce, who seem ready to switch sides, simply because theirs is losing.

And, caught in the middle of all this is Ripel, who, for some reason, I see as becoming the unlikely hero, because he's the only one whose remained constant in his loyalties and seems to have a strong moral code.

Personally, I'm loving the way this is turning out with all kinds of intrigue and backstabbing, as well as good amounts of blood shed. Really though, it's beginning to remind me of the story of FFT, and that's very much a good thing.

Yes... but he's supposedly been hired by the Rab, and he just killed a bunch of them. That's kind of what I was pointing out, there's no clearly defined 'sides' for anyone. Nothing's clear. It's intriguing, interesting, and to sum it up 'cool'.

You summed up Dezil pretty well, like you said, Dezil does his work efficently, and while he may not enjoy doing some of the things he has to do, he knows it is for the better good since he believes in the N'Revat cause and knows that some things must be done in war for the greater good. It'll be interesting to see what happens when the war ends and how Diezal will respond to the events to come.

Also this is turning out to be an interesting RP so far, and I'm liking the direction it is going as well. It's fun coming up with reasoning for Dezil's techno-weaponry and the future should be pretty interesting for the RP overall, especially as I come up with more techno-gadgets for the N'Revat, muahahaha...

Heh, you know, now that I think about it, this does sorta seem like FFT, only it seems one side has quickly gained an upperhand.

So far, the likely heros are Ripel, Blyr (unless he follows the Kain rule of RPGs and switches sides), Ark (the thief who still has yet to choose sides), Carolina (the thief's friend and reluctant WM of N'Revat), Clique (That side character you get for a little while until they go away and die/leave forever). Oh, and the chocobos, Boco and Toc. Can't forget about the chocobos.

Villains...well, Ciaran, Dante, Demon, Elyse, Luce, and Dezil (at the momen he follows Ciaran unquestioningly) seem to be quite villainy. Take away the NPCs, and the villains outnumber the heros. I find that quite interesting.

If all the villains join forces it would probably cause trouble. It would actually be interesting for a final fantasy to have the villains win actually...or at least tie.

'Course, there's the unknown factor of those who would jump in...we don't know how they'll come out.

Second: Who's Kain? Is he cool? I'm sorry, I've only played these FFs: Tactics, Tactics Advance, VII, IX, and a little of VI, and I don't remember a Kain...

Third: Yes, this is reminding me of FFT, too. One of the greatest stories ever told...er, played. Although, I think there's a bit too many plot twists so early, and I think there will only be more.

Kain is a dragoon from FFIV. I haven't played it yet, but everyone says it's good so I shoould probably play it sometime. I believe the refrence is because ay some point, Kain has his mind taken over by the bad guys.

First: I noticed your character... but you're kind of... undeveloped, so I didn't really know where to place you. Hopefully Ripel will break you out and you'll make more impact on the RP soon.

Second: Kain is a dragoon from FF4j, he was Cecil's (good guy) best friend in the beginning, but is hypnotized by Goblez (bad guy) and becomes a quasi-villain for most of the game.

Third: I'm thinking things will be just what you think too... I'm not 100% sure what Ciaran's next move will be... well, I know what I want it to be, I'm just trying to think of a way to do it.

I'm starting to think that Naras isn't going to be such a good fit for this RP. It's much more military-themed than I thought it'd be, and my character's not really a soldier or anything of the sort, so, um...I might pull out.

Definately one of the cooler moments. Pity that we can't get square whatever to make an actual game of this RP.

Well, it looks like Rab are going to scatter after this battle, not giving up but not in a full fledged war either. Ripel and whoever he helps to escape will probably wander too.

I think they're going to end up joining your 'party' if they want to survive after what Ark did to a few guards. Also, I really hope Ciaran doesn't have to actually fight Dante or Deamon down the road. Especially Deamon. Antimagic wouldn't even help with him.

Oh and Ark, on the whole accusing IHMN of godmoding... you didn't give him a chance to dodge the knives either, and if he's the fighter version of Dante I'd assume he could have. Or at least one or two out of the three... or moving so they didn't hit any tendons. So... yah. God mode to stop a god mode, I guess.

Wfile I don't think Dante would be such a problem for a squad or two of Anti-Magic Magitek Armor, since all the overlap would be nearly impossible to penetrate, but since Deamon's skills don't seem to come from magic, just sheer brutal power, he would be harder. Hmm, perhaps Dezil has something new to design in the future...

Well, there are ways to deal with anti-Magiteks, even at Dante's current power level... It's not as easy as mowing down rooms of idiotic politicians and their mook guards, but there's always a way...

Meh. It's not too hard to take down a steroids-using maniac, or an uber-powerful mage (judging by appearance, not character, so take no offense). You could always hire ninjas...I mean, ninjas could beat just about anything...and if you hire ninjas form the Ninja Burger Crew (http://www.ninjaburger.com/nbcrew/), you could probably get a burger while you're at it!

Alright, seeming as IHMN was wondering about the planning room and what have you, I decided to draw up a VERY simply floor plan. There's more bedrooms, and some hallways seperating them and what have you, and the storage areas on the ground floor are various rooms... oh and the reason there's nothing over the ballroom on the second floor is because the ballroom ceiling is raised. Anyway, like I said, it's very simple... I probably even forgot some rooms, but this will give people a general idea of what it looks like, for the purposes of getting around. And no, I will not do the same thing for the castle... a mansion with rooms missing was enough of a pain.
