I haven't really seen a FF rp in a while, the last one was back on the old forums. This is basically another one of those, a RP based in a world that obeys FF laws. The standard skills, classes, and monsters from the series are here, though possibly slightly tweaked, but none of the HP, MP, and random battles junk that apply, for reasons I hope that are apparent. For magic, amount of energy from the magical reserves that is used helps determines the power of the spell, which means none of the extra magic names.
It should be noted that the fighting isn't supposed to be important. The class and skills stuff is there for the inevitable combat. If everyone just looks for fights, there will be no point in this thread. All battles should be only a few posts, unless the fighting happens to pertain to the plot. PMing each other about it would probably help before you post it.
Also, people can and probably will die. Sometimes it adds to the plot, or just is common sense. Really, one thief vs. twenty mages and warriors...heh. Really.
One more thing, you should read the roleplaying guidelines if you haven't. All people should, and I'm just mentioning it now in case someone hasn't yet, because I myself didn't know there was one until recently. Also, it's a good read.
Rab and N'Revat were both kingdoms with powerful magic, but the first emphasized freedom and the latter demanded order and neither would see eye to eye. After a century of tense peace these two great nations are finally mobilizing for the inevitable war, and as both are on equal grounds in terms of military power there is no clear winner in sight, only the bloody vision of the devastation that will result of this conflict.
The reason of the call to arms is unknown, nor does it really matter. For too long these titans have been at eachother's throats to just simply make peace, and now is the time to finish things. One can only hope to minimize the damage, and restore the world to as it was after this is over. Unless this is resolved, chaos shall forever ensue.
This is an age where heroes and villains shall come forth from the shadows, and a wave shall come and swallow the lives of both innocent and guilty. Where it shall carry them shall be decided by those who make ripplets and the deeds they do. When they come together they will bring about the beginning and the end.
This is the story of the Final Fantasy.
Character Sheet*
Name: Obviously nothing stupid. Puns are okay, to an extent, I guess.
Physical Traits: Appearence. Sometimes helps when describing in posts.
Class: Just for reference for other people, use one that's known. It also affects the type of fighter you are. Warrior classes are strong physically, but are terrible at magic, Mages are weak physically, but excel in magic, and Warrior Mage Classes (Such as Red Mages) are balanced. There are of course other types of classes.
Main Skill: Description of what your skill can do and how proficient you are, it is the main skill of your class. Nothing to uber. i.e. *Point sword, they die* Also, do not create new skills or abilities that are not logical or are already similar to an available skill set, and edit cannon ones if they wouldn't exactly work like they would in the game. Jump jumps high, but the people in there still can move, and when the lancer lands they don't immediately go straight back up, unless they state otherwise. Magic can home, but is dodgeable. Weaker spells tend to hit more, though, because they would be faster.
Secondary Skill: Same as above, but it won't be as effective as the first. Should somehow be related to class as well, as the class affects the potential of the secondary skill as well as the first.
Background: History, such as how they got involved. However, you should note that most of the story will be taking place with the N'Revat forces (at least it will be at first), and that most people would probably be in a branch of military, or something else that would be involved directly with the war. As always, common sense should be used.
Extra info: Just stuff you'd like to mention about your character that doesn't fit in with the rest.
Pre-Rp Relations: If you guys agree, you can have your guys have relationships (rival, friend...other stuff...) with others. It would sorta make sense that at least a few of them would know eachother before all this started.
This is my first time trying to create an rp, so any questions or suggestions can be either posted or (if it's only pertaining to your character) pmed to me. I will probably edit this as we go along, and/or ask for help.
*Try to keep everything varied from everyone else. Not everyone should be exact copies of the other.

I have a question concerning the skills..... So your main skill if, say you were a black mage, would be fire magic? With secondary of lightning? Or is it something else? o_o; Just want to get that straightened out before I post anything

Also... would a villain be an acceptable PC? Like a person working behind the scenes with something to gain by goading each country to war and breaking down the tender peace. Perhaps an arms manufacturer (ala Kuja minus the souls), or maybe a powerful necromancer gaining power by using all the death to his/her advantage, or perhaps someone with a powerful private army causing the first two countries to war and weaken themselves before moving in. You know, a villain created specifically to be defeated (but be smart and evil too)... I probably won't make that character because I don't trust myself to keep up with the RP... but it WOULD be cool.

First, the main skill would be Black Magic. I guess I should categorize a few magics now.
Black Magic-Destruction Type Spells
White Magic-Healing Type Spells
Time Magic-Physical Status Type Spells
Yin Yang Magic-Mental Status Type Spells
Red Magic-A collection of low to mid level of the above spell types.
Summon Magic-Summon Beast, get drained as you control it. More summoned at a time=quicker drain on yourself. Several Incarnations of the same being could be on the field.
Blue Magic, which I call dibs on-Learned Enemy Skills
Mimic-Not really a magic, but simply copies an ally's move. It is not learned however.
Sword Magic-Special Sword powering skills
Trainer-Not really a magic either, controls a monster/pet. Those of the Trainer class can control several at once, but the higher the level and the greater the number gets harder to control.
Second, yes you could. It would be hard to make productive posts, and you'd have to keep track of everything. It would also give the rp a distinct, but probably distant, goal.

I like villains. I wouldn't mind being one. I have a question though... What is his level of interaction with the group? Through minions, through lieutenants, or does the Great Lord of the Dark show up and go "HA HA HA ARE YOU PREPARED TO MEET YOUR DOOM?"

Just want to ask three things. First, we are working with the N'Revat at first, the guys that support order right?
And second is a comment, but if anyone doesn't know a lot about the FF universe and wants to join, a good site to look is www.returnergames.com . They have designed a fully functional pen and paper FFRPG, with all the classes and stats to go with it, so if you are having trouble thinking up a character, it's a good place to look.
Third, is what is the technological level of this FF world? Is it High tech, like FFVIII, medium tech, like FFVI or VII, or low tech, like FFI? This has to do with the character I'm making.

I can be the behinds the scenes character that isn't evil or good, but inbetween and is twisting both sides to get what he wants...
Delita, Kuja, That guy from Legend of Dragoon who had wings are examples...
BMHadoken
12-27-2003, 02:12 PM
Maybe...everybody just designs a regular guy, then Ecurt either randomly or purposfully picks somebody, then PMs them saying that at some point they'll become the baddie...
That way, theres mystery, and then at some point, the guy/gal who got picked revels his/her evil machinations, and we have a new goal!!!...or not, since the person wh got picked would probably have little clues in all his posts that showed that he would become the evil guy/gal...

And is this going to be like most FFs where, you have one weapon. That is all. You are completely clueless with all others, or can we pull stuff like LotR and have a sword and a bow, or a shwack of axes?
BMHadoken
12-27-2003, 02:22 PM
Shwack...riiight...
And can I be an android with guns...or is this more medievil?

12-27-2003, 04:00 PM
If you're a villain you're either going to be right there with us until the end, meaning more posts, or behind the scenes, meaning less posts (unless you have minions), or some mix in between. The Dark Lord would be kinda funny popping up though.
Technological level..well, I'd say it's about FFVI's. Technology is being rediscovered, though it's more common for it be infused with magic.
Weapons-You can have several weapons (skills and class do affect how you can use them), but remember. More weapons on you=more weight. You also don't suck with the rest, unless your character hasn't trained with it at all.
BM-You can be a Magical being...or machines animated by magic, but realize you'll be designated as a monster class. Unless, of course, it's like the character. The guns...well, they're not self reloading and you can't fire more than one shot at a time. Also, I like your idea of picking the villain, but then I would have to lay out my idea for the earlier parts of the rp for him/her.

Here's my character...
Name: Dezil Terron
Physical Traits: He is 6 foot 1, and has thick, curley red beard, with hair of the same. His friendly brown eyes and calm disposition might make some think he is a passive sort, but on the field of battle it is another story. He has a rough attitude towards others, and can get too involved in his work sometimes, but is a good person once you get past his rough exterior.
Class: Engineer
Main Skill: Invention - Can create strange and amazing invention that can be used in battle or other places.
Secondary Skill: Piloting - Can pilot nearly any mechanical device created, from Airships to Magitek Robots.
Background: Dezil is on of the most skilled, if not the most skilled engineer for N'Revat army. He has been behind the design for many of their new and amazing vehicles and airships, and is currently trying to design some new man portalbe weapons although none have been completed yet. He is also a capable warrior on his own, and has been on the field of battle more than once to test out new devices.

Monster class? I don't getcha....would that effect anything?
And the hand picked villain would require more planning later on, for that one moment that turns the character evil or whatnot...
How about pistols for guns? Like an old fashioned six shooter?
Ooo... I jst had an idea, can we have different races? I want to be N'mou from Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced.
Name: Nansen
Physical Traits: (Just try and follow) Stands about 4' 2 and wearing a black cape jacket with white trim around the edges and cuffs. Underneath is a regular green robe. His face looks like that of a dog's, his ears hanging down to his stomach. From behind him, he drags a tail that is grey with orange hair on top of it.
Class: Morpher
Main Skill: Morphing (Able to take the soul of a monster and use their abilities.
However, he must possess the soul)
Secondary Skill: Control (Able to lull monsters onto his side)
Background: A rare find in this world, a N'mou usually has a strength in magic and weak with their fists. This N'mou decided to take another route, and trained to become a beastmaster. Excelling that potential, he soon gained enough expirence to weild a soul as a weapon. An able freidnand ally, he will never leave a man behind, but won't allow himself to be pushed around.
Extra info: A N'mou, Uses the soul as a sort of glove to make physical attacks, unusually strong for his race.
Pre-Rp Relations: N/A (at this time)

Name:Elyse Garte
Physical traits: I meter 75 centimeters tall, Has straight blac hair, white skin and seems cold and cruel. Has a weak body and is skinny. Not much use in battle without weaponry. Can use guns though.
Class: May I be an aristocrat? If yes, so shall it be.
Main skill: Gunning- can use most guns and other things like that.
Secondary skill: High class social skills- can act acording to the protocol, knows famous and important people, things like that.
Backround: Is the daughter of a rather wealthy aristocratic family, and owns a lage piece of land. In her youth, she was thought by many home teachers. She has lack of humour and also has a very strong personality. Her father died on the battelfield, in a small dispute, in her country. Since then, she has had to manage her mansion, because her mother was quite ill. Her greed has forced her to hire more and more employees to her mansion, and she has lately made her mansion into a greatly profitable factory and plantage. Under her, she has at least a thousand employees.

First off, I'm basing off the guns from Final Fantasy. they can be infused with magic, but pistols, rifles, all are one shot. Rifles have greater power, range, and accuracy, pistols are lighter, can have two, and can be hidden.
Monsters usually have one skill sets, but don't need equiptment or anything.
Races are a good idea.
Cruelty-You'll have to find some way to get into the story if you want to make that work.
My Guy (Only a few people can be Rab, as it would be hard to organize and direct the flow of the story if it were to show both sides at once.)
Name: Ripel
Physical Traits: Drabbed in the traditional garments of his class he stands a little under six feet. While black hair and a pair of brown eyes are common features, he, unlike most Rab citizens, has a tanned skin tone, making him noticeable in most crowds. About 5'8" and lean build, he's not the most athletic but he can keep up, and sometimes surpass, with the generals in combat.
Class: Blue Mage
Main Skill, Blue Magic: Able to copy certain enemy abilities and use them against them. So far has mastered various low level to medium level abilities. His best skill learned is the famous Mighty Guard, which he learned from his father. Pity that he can't remember how to use it most of the time.
Secondary Skill, Trainer: Works in unison with an animal friend, his being Boco (Heh, couldn't resist), a red chocobo. Able to perfom combo moves together (simply attacking at the same time), or use his pet's abilities by themselves.
Background: Having been raised on the border, where only small villages were located, he is used to the outdoors and knows the land and the things living there. Growing up he was taught the skills of a Blue Mage from his father, partly due to the fact that monster encounters were frequent and partly due to tradition.
As the risk of war greatened with the tension between the nations, Ripel grew increasingly worried for the safety of his village. Expecting that any conflict started in the form of violence would probably engulf his home he made a decision. At 17 he enlisted into the Rab military, becoming a member of the border defence force so that he may defend his family and friends with his own hands.
Extra info: On an outing when he was around fourteen Ripel came upon a wild chocobo nest. Signs of a goblin raid were apparent, nothing but a few broken shells and some feathers remained here. He sighed, turning to leave, but then he noticed something moving behind some bushes. It turned out to be a chocobo egg.
Knowing that when it hatched it would probably die if left outside he took the egg home. When the chick emerged from the shell he gave it the name Boco, and from that moment Boco had been both friend and family to Ripel.
While Boco is still too young for Ripel to ride for extended times, he's an unreplaceable companion and a formidable foe to any of Ripel's enemy.
Relations: Grew up as Blyr's friend, he and Blyr often had races with their chocobo, competed in 'duels' and even represented their villages when in the Village Challenge of Skill. Ripel usually wins the skill challenges due to his Mighty Guard ability, but Blyr keeps saying that it was only by to a small margin.

Can I have a Black Chocobo? When I make my bio I mean...
Truce
12-27-2003, 05:55 PM
Yes. If you want to fight in unison with it, you should have a Trainer slot to control it. Otherwise, it would be fighting on it's own, but then again you would get a free skill set.
Dante
12-27-2003, 07:22 PM
Here's mine...
Name: Dante. Just Dante.
Physical Traits: 185cm tall, with short blond hair. A young man in his early 20s. Contrary to popular stereotypes, he is not short, nor does he wear a yellow hat and blue robes. He has a face, and a rather cute one at that. Usually dressed in light armor and robes, with his shortsword slung behind his back. (http://www.projectbag.com/bastard/pics/kall_su08.jpg)
Class: Black Mage - specializes in fire and lightning
Main Skill: He is the Black Mage! He casts the spells that makes the peoples falls down! What else do you need?
Secondary Skill: He was raised as a priest, so he knows a smattering of White Magic (No healing, pure defensive and buffing)
IHateMakingNames
12-27-2003, 09:18 PM
Name: Deamon
Physical Traits: Stands at about 6‘3“ (Whatever that is in metric…). Looks to be in his 20, probably 21. Short blonde hair and red eyes. Has a lean build and is somewhat tanned. Usually wears a black kung fu type thing. (What Ryu, Ken, and Akuma wear) Wears metal arm bands and small metal pieces made for his hands that cover his palm and back of his hand.
Class: Monk I guess…
Main Skill: Beat up the other guy.
Secondary Skill: He’s got a black chocobo, so either some Trainer, or some Summoner (Depends on which story you believe)
Background: Not much is known about Deamon, he just showed up one day on his black chocobo in the N'Revat forces. However, he disappears sometimes, then comes back like nothing has changed. Whenever the question of what he was doing or why he is in the army is brought up, he quickly changes subjects. Most people just think he is a mercenary. When asked about his past, he says he was the son of a Summoner and a Time Mage, and was raised in a far off village that no one knows about, and some kung fu master lived there. When asked about his black chocobo, he says that he found it in the woods one day, and it followed him, so he kept it. Rumor is he summoned it magically himself, but it’s just a rumor.
Extra info: Disappears randomly, unknown past, strange black chocobo
Pre-Rp Relations: He won’t tell
There... everything is all set.

12-27-2003, 10:12 PM
Name: Carolina
Physical Traits: Short brownish-red hair, brown eyes, right around 5'2'' (forgive me for being lazy and not wanting to look up metric >_>; ) She wears robes typical of white mages. Is fairly young... only around 17.
Class: White Mage... I like healing.
Main Skill: White Magic
Secondary Skill: Summoning.. can summon Carbuncle, and on occassion Leviathan. Has a harder time summoning him since she's only just learning the art of summoning.
Background: She started learning white magic at an early age, but not because she really wanted to, she was sort of forced into it in order to possibly help with the soon coming war. She had wanted to become a summoner instead, and despite all the practice she still needs with her white magic skills, she prefers to spend her time practicing her summoning skills. The first beast she ever summoned was Carbuncle, so he is pretty much her favorite of them all.
Extra info: Not too shy, but not much of a talker either. She loves all sorts of animals, especially cute ones such as chocobos.
Pre-RP Relations: At one time she really liked this boy that would pay her visits when she wasn't busy with her training. She knew him by his more common name, Arc, but didn't know about his dealings with thievery. She didn't learn of that little secret until he was captured and tossed into prison for stealing. She swore that she would never forgive him for not alone that, but lying to her about it as well. She has no idea that he has escaped, and has almost all but forgotten about her childhood crush completely.

What the hell... I'll give it a go.
Name: Ciaran Atropos
Physical Traits: Of about average height, just under 2 meters, or 5'10" in the english system and is possessed of a rather effeminate frame. Although strong, his muscles are long and thin as opposed to short and bulky, and are generally not apparent so long as he is clothed. The clothing he wears is usually impeccable and consisting of a black silk vest with either gold or silver embroidery over a white silk shirt which has rather puffed out arms, as is the style for nobility, and a pair of simple black slacks truncating beneath a pair of calf high black boots which, unlike the average noble's boots, are flat bottomed and allow for comfortable movement. His dress and body only serve to make him seem weak upon first sight, and his face can either serve to strengthen this observation or destroy it, for although his complexion is pale and his hair long, well-kempt, and otherwise effeminate, his green eyes hold an aura of determination.
Class: Magic Fencer. (Ala Dycedarg of FFT)
Primary Skill: Sword Art. He is exceptionally skilled in swordsmanship and knows many techniques, although none are 'magical'. He can make dueling appear as an art.
Secondary Skill: Black Magic. He is considerably skilled in black magic as well, although he would be easy prey for any real black mage in purely magical combat. He knows few high level spells, and they generally leave him sapped for strength. As a result he relies near entirely upon using short fast spells to distract opponents, allowing his sword to finish them.
Background: He is a noble and general in the court of N'Revat, and has lived the pampered life of one with easy access to nearly anything that he has wished, being so close to the leadership of an oppresive country, but also trained for his career as military commander for most of his life. There are some things, however, that even nobles can not get easily in N'Revat with their devotion to order, and, as a result, he built his own criminal agency, devoted to providing him, and anyone willing to pay, with all the things that were unattainable in N'Revat. Drugs, Sex, Blood... he lords over them all, but never partakes of the drugs. Although it is relatively common knowledge that he runs the organization which has plauged N'Revat, little proof has been attained by the ruling families, and due to his family's closeness to the throne his disposal would prove messy. Thus, he has been, so far, left alone, with only his minions taking the fall for his crimes. Lately, however, the N'Revat police force has been getting too close to him for his own comfort.
Extra info: Although Militarily a genius, his moral boosting skills leave something to be desired. He runs his troops through a mix of fear and respect, and has been known to publically execute dissenters by his own hand.
Pre-Rp Relations: He has many connections both in the royal court and in the illegal underground.
Darth SS
12-27-2003, 10:30 PM
Name: Ghast. (He's known more as Arc)
Physical Traits: Is around 18. Not built for strength, fairly thin. Dark brown eyes and extremely short hair of the same colour. He is almost ALWAYS wearing black. Normally wearing a black gi like uniform, and wears masks for jobs. Gloves, and fairly high boots meant for flexibility. he wears his combat daggers on his side. Sometimes wears a cloak.
Class: Thief
Main Skill: Thievery (climbing, knife throwing (not to kill, but to hit stuff) moving silently, and just common sense about what you should do to be a good theif)
Secondary Skill: Lock. Picking. Vast knowledge of locks, and how to get through them. Knows a lot of command words for magicked locks, etc.
Background: Ghast lost his mother when he was 3. He ended up with an uncle who ran an inn. A cheap inn. Every single way to save money was used, and Ghast was the errand boy/punching bag. Through this, he learned how to avoid being found by his uncle's orders (going in and planting stuff for clients in the middle of the night) and by sheer neccesity. When he was 12, he broke loose. He ended up with some older more experienced theives, and learned the ropes. He quickly surpassed them. Eventually, he went on his own, and is famous for his last heist, at which he was 14. He nailed, and emptied completely, the safes of 8 nobles without being noticed. However he messed up the next day though, and cashed it all at once. This was what got him captured, charged, and tossed into the prison/mines for 3 years. He broke out soon, and has been playin' it safe for the past year.
Extra info: He's now regretting who and what he is. He'll still steal when he has to, but stealing for fun is gone. Also, only GOD knows how many throwing knives he has littered in hidden places around his body.
Pre-RP Relations: Arc once knew a girl. From the first moment he saw her, he thought he loved her. Getting onto the estate, sneaking past the guards, climbing the wall, and getting into her room wasn't that big of a thing. Then he was arrested. She was at his trial. And she found out. He would've assumed that the fact no one save her knew he was there and the fact he came through her window WHICH WAS ON THE THIRD FLOOR was a dead giveaway. So, he's pretty much gotten over it, but he's pretty sure that he wants to avoid her.
If Cruelty allows, he could've stolen from her father.

Dante
12-28-2003, 08:26 AM
Dante's background:
Not much is known about him apart from the fact that he must have once been a white mage of some sort, judging from his vestments, yet he practices the destructive magics of a black mage. He has had no formal training in their arts, yet he demonstrates the prowess of a Black Adept. He does practice white magic, but he does not use it to heal or enhance, instead using it to deflect and ward.
Dante remain tight-lipped about his past, though he tends to display some animosity towards white mages. It is probable that something bad happened to him in the past, something involving white mages, but he will not divulge any details.
Extra: He tends to levitate instead of walking, and when he enters battle this graduates into full-fledged flying. He is thus very mobile and hard to hit.

Can I be a mage that specializes in using light?
He can blind the other guy, illuminate dark things, and can create illusions by manipulating the light?
EDIT: This guy...
Name: Luce
Physical Traits: Wiry frame with gangly arms and legs, only about 5'8-5'10 but looks taller with his mis-proportioned legs. Always carries a cane, although it is purely for style and looks, since he doesnt require it. Is always wearing a monocle, although he has one for each eye, and if not wearing one it dangles from his neck. Wears a royal looking and puffed up T-shirt with jeans, and always wears an orange coat. Has black hair that sticks straight up (think Vash) which adds an inch or two to his height. Always smiles. Looks around 40-ish.
Class: Light Mage
Primary Skill: Light Magic- Can manipulate and create light, useful for blinding foes and enshrouding others in stealthy darkness.
Secondary Skill: Illusionist - By bending and maipulating light Luce can create dopplegangers and any object imaginable, although they are useful for little more than distractions, as anything can pass through them.
Background: A wise and talented boy in his youth, Luce displayed a great affinity for magic, although his magical abilities consited primarily around Light. He studied this unique form of magic, and quickly became very fearsome with his skills, although he was never violent, and only reacted in defense. Has been traveling around for awhile, but finally settled down into his current job. (below)
Extra info: Luce's cane functions more as a mini-staff and wand than a walking implement. He can also use it to hit foes, although it is very weak and not useful for much more then pestering blinded foes.
Pre-Rp Relations: A longtime servant and friend of the now deceased Mr. Garte, only Elyse was hit harder when he died. Since then, Luce has stuck around the Garte's and now serves as an advisor and bodyguard of sorts to Elyse. (if thats ok with cruelty)

Is it too late to join? The character I've got in mind is a Shaman, just a fancy name for a weak Summoner (main skill, like less than 5 small animals at once)/very weak White Mage (secondary, with just enough juice to cure very small wounds). Or maybe Archery could be his secondary skill?

Physical Traits: Wiry frame with gangly arms and legs, only about 5'8-5'10 but looks taller with his mis-proportioned legs. Always carries a cane, although it is purely for style and looks, since he doesnt require it. Is always wearing a monocle, although he has one for each eye, and if not wearing one it dangles from his neck. Wears a royal looking and puffed up T-shirt with jeans, and always wears an orange coat. Has black hair that sticks straight up (think Vash) which adds an inch or two to his height. Always smiles. Looks around 40-ish.
I think BM's guy is a curved, insane man...

Curved?

(hoping to jump on the bandwagon late, like Zephir" But may I join? I was consitering it earlier, but I was being stupid and I didn't post anything last night. If you need another villain or anything, I wouldn't mind doing that, or if you want my character to come in late or something(since in most final fantasies you don't meet everyone at the same time), or if I can just join as a good guy normally, I'll just make a character like normal. *crosses fingers* I hope I'm not too late in asking. ^^;;

Most of the villians are "secert" (But very obvious), but your not supposed to know it in the RP...
And the RP hasn't started, he just said it is going to... Your not late yet
BMHadoken
12-28-2003, 04:37 PM
What the hell does curved mean?
And I'd go with normal good guy who joins later...you'd be the secret character!...or something.

If your going to join later like if it was the game, you would have to wait for chapter 5 or something... (Characters either join in the first 30 minutes, or hours into the game)
BMHadoken

Well then Ecurt lets her join in the begining...and your avoiding the curved question...

Or maybe, maybe, maybe...this works? o.o;
***
---
Main skills: ????? (Shaman-class? Summoner-class? Red Mage?)
• Bloodbath: Uses a corpse's life energy (blood) to augment his allies' strength. Wears off quickly.
• Mirage: Creates shadows of his allies, like Fenrir from FF6. Lasts for only a short time.
• Vanish: Disappear. Cloak. Invisible. Unseen. 635,231 other words that describe it. :P Lasts a really short time.
• Summon: Summons up to 5 small animals, or one human-sized one and controls it. Creatures die easily and last less than a minute.
• Necromancy: Reanimates one skeleton of one dead animal/person. Takes the place of any monster(s) already summoned. Very weak skeleton, collapses from simple hits and weak to fire.
• Medicine Man (:p): Can make potions of types healing and status-healing...one each day (total), using herbs and such.
---
Secondary: Archery. Low skill level.
***
Might all that work? Too strong? Too similar to any other classes/players?

Just keep thinking, you'll get it
You have a Bloodmage, a Necromancer, a Summoner, Illusionist, White mage/medicene man all in one character... Who carries a bow
Dante
12-28-2003, 04:40 PM
Did he say when it's going to start? BTW, Zephir, I find it quite odd that a Shaman would use abilities called Bloodbath and Necromancy...
CelesJessa
12-28-2003, 04:41 PM
Yeah, I know I might have to join late (like chapter 5). But that's not that bad for me. I've got lots of stuff to be worrying about coming up (like finals.... >_< As if that really matters to anything concerning RPs...) Hopefully if I was a normal good guy that joined later, I wouldn't have to wait TOO long. ^^;; Then I'd be the akward one who doesn't know what the heck is going on. ^^;;

Right...
Dante: Actually, I was thinking more like Diablo 2's Shamen. The ones that raise Fallen/Dark Ones/Carvers/etc.
Meh...I'll think of something much less than all that at work...those were just random ideas that I got just right now...

Bleh, it's not too late to join. I just fell asleep for a few extra hours.
The first chapter is just going to be about short battle sequence, one to introduce all the characters and set things up.
And the Shaman thing seems okay, though I would expect to summon the spirit, not reanimate the body. Achery skill can be raised, as it seems you would be the type to hang back in the first part of battle.
The other classes are fine as well.

Name: Kirie (Ki (long 'i'), for short)
Physical Traits: She wears a kimono-like outfit. (I drew a picture of it, but my scanner is being retarded... >_< ) The left side of the dress part of it ends at about half of her upper leg, it tapers to the right and the right side ends at her knees. She has really cool boots/shoes... (they were fun to draw, I don't pay much attention to shoes much.) She wears her hair down, at it reaches about chest length.
Class: Dragoon
Main Skill: Jumping (dragoon skill)
Secondary Skill: Sword magic (but instead of using a sword, she would power up her scyth-spear. The magic won't be used very often, and when she uses it, it will tire her out quickly.
Background: Kirie grew up her whole life training as a dragoon. Her father had been a great dragoon warrior, but during a fateful battle, he suffered a fatal wound, and later died before he even got to see his family again. Kirie only heard about it when another Dragoon, a cose friend of her father's, informed the family. Being the youngest in the family, she wasn't expected to become a motherly like figure. However, when she got olderm she followed in her father's footsteps and became a dragoon. That displeased her family, since they didn't want to lose another person they loved to a pointless battle. However, Kirie couldn't ignore her calling, so she left home, with nothing more than a note.
Extra info: Her weapon is a long Scythe-like spear. (also cool looking)

Name: Syn Darkhaven
Physical Traits: About 6'1. Pale skin. Red glowing eyes. Wears a plain black robe.
Class: Psy-Lord
Main Skill: Ying Yang Magic
Secondary Skill: Black Magic
Background: None that he remembers. He one just woke up in the middle of a battle, and was told he was part of it.
Extra info: Constantly searching for his past identity. What actually happened was he tried to delve into the mind of another psy-lord, and was stopped, and got amnesia as a side-effect.

I'm assuming through some cruel twist of fate we'll end up together. Just by virtue of this being called FF. That and the fact that player vs player RPs never tend to work real well.
So, my guy's pretty neutral. And confused. And stuff.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Geomancer is an Elementalist with a different name. Square should be a little more consistant with their class names...

Dante
12-28-2003, 11:16 PM
Around there... the younger mages need time to properly cast the spell, the high-powered ones can throw off weak spells almost at will and with little cost to their own stamina, though they still need to concentrate for the really powerful ones, like the earth shield thing.
That said, once he's out of mana or unable to concentrate he's meat.
Truce
12-28-2003, 11:17 PM
Celes, you're fine. Jump in once you've gotten a background and you feel like it.
Alan, tell me your proficiency, and what a Psylord is. I have no clue, and if he's super-powered like he sounds (I haven't yet had a chance to check out the other thread, nor respond to any pms-sorry Dante, and I will) you better have a good reason.
IHMN-You're right, I intended for at least most of you guys to be N'Revat. It's easier to control the flow like I said earlier, besides....that side's going to win or lose once everyone has introduced themselves in this chapter who wants their character to (it's a flip of a coin really, I have two outcomes planned, and however you guys decide to portray yourselves affects my decision).
Mr. V-Monk, Blue Mage, Thief, Noble (Aristrocrat, same thing), Black Mage, Oracle (Unless Alan explains the Psylord, he's Oracle in my mind), Dragoon, White Mage, Engineer, Shaman, and another type of Mage, plus a Light specialist Mage.
IHateMakingNames
12-28-2003, 11:17 PM
Wouldn't making several shields, lots of exremetly sharp air blades, and a gaint hole in the ground count as out of mana, or atleast very close?
He does Yin-Yang magic, but he wants a better title I guess... And he has himself completely invisible to everyones sight while enslaving mages minds easily.
Dante
12-28-2003, 11:19 PM
Not exactly... though it was quite a big drain, around 35%. Fighting normies is easier becuase you can preempt their attacks and thus avoid the need for shielding, but against mages you have to be ready for anything.
The problem isn't so much how much mana you have, but how much your body can sustain before burning out.
Alan Carver
12-28-2003, 11:22 PM
Well, I kinda GAVE a reason he's so strong. I left his history practically blank, meaning he's probably older than he thinks, and used to be very powerful. Another note: He's evil, he needs to be strong because without strong evil characters, it's too easy for the heroes.
How do you not know what a psy-lord is? How long have you been rping? It's just what it says, a Psychic lord, meaning hes extremely proficient at using his psychic abilites.

Lets go over this. You took a random mage, and completely and utterly wiped his mind to be exactly what you wanted, then ordered him to massacre a whole bunch of people without losing a bit of energy. Following that you proceeded to run away.
This is not god-modding how?
Mr. Viewtiful
12-28-2003, 11:40 PM
Alan-they're just asking you to tone it down a bit to make your character not so ultra-powerful. It's not like they are hating you, or anything. Go ahead and ask Ecurt if you can have all those abilities, or just loosen up.
It's to bad the mods never would let us make a God-Mode-All RP, like what BMHadoken suggested. THAT would be the place to kick serious behind :)
LilWhiteMage
12-28-2003, 11:43 PM
I think most of the problem here is just that he posted an extremely small bio, then threw himself into the RP. Most of us around here wait under the person running the RP tells us the char is okay, that way there's no arguing about whether it is a god-moddy char or not (since said head of RP will have approved). Yeah o.o No offense or anything guy.
Truce

Look...I mean PsyLord in relation to this RP, I don't remember an FF having it in the game. I'm not stupid.
Also, the story starts of with weak characters. If I introduced a villain right now it would be bad for the plot and the RP. With someone so strong to exert so much power in an introductory battle...that pretty much kills everyone else, and seems kinda cheesy to me.
You're character, for just waking up in the battle, doesn't seem to confused or worried. I only got to glance, but I don't remember seeing any motivation.
IHMN-Long posts, I meant posts with a little description, not one liners. I prefer those, but if you can't really think of anything and you need to react, those are fine...I won't like it, but it's fine. I know I do it sometimes.

I think I'll leave him at:

• Archery: Can hit stationary objects at 50 meters if he has a solid 10 seconds to aim.
• Raises spirits, one at a time, with limited abilities and time limit.
Anything more and I'll feel too strong. I already feel a little too strong, actually...
Oh, and he's an old man; really old, like in his fifties or sixties. But anyway, I'd rather enter at a later time...like, if the party passes through some town looking for potions or whatnot, then I can pop in. :P

Alright, I edited in Kirie's background. I'm not extremely happy with it as it is, so it's subject to change.
And I think I'll join the group a little bit later, jsut so we're not having everyone at once. ^^;

I know it's alittle late (well it's a lot late actually) but Ecurt allowed me to join, so here I am!
Name: Cassie
Physical Traits: 6"0 with brown eyes and red hair. She wears black baggy-ish pants and a white tank top. She mostly has a grey cloak over her clothes
Class: Chronomancer (or Time Mage I haven't plaed FFT in a loooong time)
Main Skill: Time Magic. Cassie can control time to a small extent and inflict status ailments to her enemies. She can speed up and slow down time, but only for events that have already happened. She can also stop time very briefly, but it drains her almost completely.
Secondary Skill: Red Magic- Cassie knows some basic white and black magic as well, but only the very basic fire, lit, ice and heal spells.
Background: Cassie's father, a powerful Chronomancer, went to war very early on and was slain in a bloody battle. Now that the call to arms has risen again, Cassie has decided to take her father's place by joining the battle. (not sure which side yet)
Extra info: Cassie is very friendly, but no one better make fun of her family, or they'll get a big whack upside the head with her Time Staff.
Pre-Rp Relations: N/A (at this time)

Well... the N'Revat have kind of defeated the Rab, under Ciaran's (my character) expert leadership... and then Ciaran usurped the throne (by manipulating Ripel [Ecurt's character] into killing the king) and became emperor... so the sides are basically, Rab refugees and resistance, which we haven't heard much from, other than the heroes (Celes was a member of the resistance who joined the heros, I suppose you could do that too)... The N'Revat Imperial Armed Forces (NIAF!), and the army of demons...
Just to help you decide what to do... also, I suppose the heros could find a Rab resistance group on their way to Preos, and you could be a member of that.
Anyway... I like the bio.
That was just to help you pick a side.
Also... in order to catch you up with the story, so you know what's happening:
Ciaran was a general of the N'Revat stationed at the border of N'Revat and Rab. Some fires were started in the N'Revat camps... who did it no one knows. This triggered a battle... The N'Revat took the upper hand, thanks to Dezil's, the expert engineer, (FZ's character) anti-magic field generators, which allowed them to nullify any magic, including that from the VERY powerful mage Dante (Dante's character). It's about then that Elyse showed up with Luce (neither of which have posted in AGES), in an airship, which was shot down by magitek, and Ciaran had ordered some of his troops to circle around behind the Rab forces. Caught in a pincer attack, and with their most powerful weapons nullfied or destroyed, Rab forfeited. Ciaran had the Airship rebuilt, and flew it, loaded with magitek and troops as well as some prisoners (any PCs that were in the Rab army), to the Rab capital under Rab colors. Once he had infiltrated the capital, he ordered the attack. The anti-magic magitek easily made their way to the capital building, only to find that Dante, having been betrayed by the Rab, had already slain all of the Rab rulers. The Rab forces surrendered shortly after. Ripel and Blyr (the two Rab PCs that were captured--Blyr=Mr. Viewtiful) then tried to escape. Ripel ran into Ciaran on the way out, who allowed him and his friends to escape, if he'd assassinate the king... promising release of General Clique (NPC general of Rab forces) when it was completed. Meanwhile, Ark (SS's character... he can't get online currently and hasn't posted in awhile), the neutral thief who had snuck aboard the ship to see Carolina (LWM's character, she's in the same boat as SS), due to their pre-rp relations. Ark was caught by Deamon (IHMN's character), and Carolina and Ark were in deep shit. Ripel had them released along with himself and Blyr.
Ripel and Ciaran then planned the death of the king, and Ciaran made Ripel a royal guard for the king. He assassinated the king while he was reading, and then managed to escape with the help of Deamon, Ark, Carolina, and Blyr. Ciaran did not release Clique, but did gather all the generals together, and assassinated anyone who didn't care for him taking power (only one person, actually). Ciaran became emperor. And his first order was to have Ripel's village destroyed, along with Ripel... who was the only person who knew Ciaran had him kill the king.
The magitek, led by Dezil, attacked. In the battle, just as Ripel was about to die, Kairi (celes's character) showed up and pulled him out of the line of fire, using her mad dragoon skillz. Dezil, then realizing that Ciaran was not a good person (having been assigned a 'guard' along with all other high ranking officials [you know... to kill them if they betrayed Ciaran]), and he activated a self destruct mechanism in a nearby magitek, as well as his own, faking his own death. He joined the Rab resistance shortly after, and the Magitek retreated, thinking that the mages had found a way to penetrate the A/M fields.
When Ciaran received the report he sent bandits after the refugees in order to kill the people that knew how to penetrate the A/M fields. The bandits attacked, but as they did, Deamon convinced Ripel to open a gateway in the side of a mountain, telling him that there would be reinfocements there. When he did... the gate to the netherworld was open, and demons surged out. Deamon was revealed as a demon himself (although not physically... just commanding the demon army). The refugees and bandits escaped, while the demons were too pained by the fading sunlight to attack. Ripel, however, was left behind as everyone else escaped, and is now seperated from the group.
While all this was happening, Dante was attacked by the black mage council of N'Revat, as that they assumed he was the one who killed the king. Dante was able to easily kill every one of them except for the grand master Bandon... who defeated him and sent him crashing down into the mountains below, where he was retrieved by servents of a being known as Radaeus. Radaeus took control of Dante's mind and sent him against Ciaran and Bandon. Bandon was slain in a magical duel, rocking the castle... but when he moved to attack Ciaran, he activated many A/M fields all throughout his room, supressing Dante's powers. They then dueled, Dante using his Channelers Chain (or something like that), which was a semi-sentient whip which had glowing links that cause concussive force at even the slightest touch, and Ciaran using his Rapier. The Duel was impressive, and you can read it yourself... with Ciaran taking the upper hand and stabbing Dante many times... just before the A/M fields winked out. Dante's wounds healed, and he attacked Ciaran with fireballs, which Ciaran dodged. Sister Millani (an NPC from Dante's past) then came forth from the white mages gathered in the room... and cast Esuna on Dante, which relieved him of his mind control. Dante then took her with him and escaped... moving to kill Radaeus.
The heros, in the meanwhile, are trying to regroup and discussing their next move. They've decided to seek Ciaran's help with the demons, and are headed toward Preos.
That should catch you up.
